Do you have sensitive teeth?

As a mom I have always made sure my kids brushed and flossed their teeth at least twice a day, every day. They are teenagers now and thankfully they still brush and floss their teeth a minimum of twice a day. I credit this to the fact that they have great teeth and hardly any cavities (my son had one cavity in his 15 years and my daughter had a “pit”, which is not a cavity per say but they treated it like one).

I wish my mom was as concerned about my teeth as I am about my kid’s teeth. My mom didn’t encourage me to brush more than once a day and flossing was never encouraged. As a result I have a mouthful of fillings and have had several root canals. I take good care of my teeth NOW, but I can’t undo the damage that was done to my teeth when I was younger and didn’t take great care of them.

Once your adult teeth come in that’s it – that is all you get. So it’s extremely important that you do what you can to take care of them by brushing a minimum of twice a day – every day – as well as flossing, regular dental check ups and avoiding foods and beverages that can stain or harm your teeth. Using mouth wash is also a good idea to rid your mouth of harmful germs.

Some people have sensitive teeth. Personally I think I go through “waves” where sometimes my teeth are sensitive to cold and other times they are not. I don’t know why it’s not a regular, every day thing. I guess certain things can trigger a sensitivity.

Sometimes drinking something really cold or eating ice cream will cause a sharp pain in a tooth. That is because it might be sensitive to cold.

Colgate has introduced two new products that will help people who suffer from tooth sensitivity.

Colgate Enamel Health Multi-Protection Toothpaste offers all of the benefits of an all-in-one toothpaste: new multi-protection formula helps relieve tooth sensitivity while fighting cavities, whitening teeth, freshening breath, replenishing natural calcium for strong, healthy enamel and protects against enamel erosion.

This is an all-in-one toothpaste that covers everything you need to maintain healthy, beautiful teeth. I like that this one toothpaste does it all. It cleans, it brightens, it whitens and gives you fresh breath too.

Believe it or not my family is very picky about toothpaste. I have tried different toothpastes over the years and there has been times when I’ve had to toss out a new tube of toothpaste because my husband or kids don’t like it. Either they don’t like the taste or the way it feels.

My family likes the Colgate Enamel Health Multi-Protection Toothpaste. As a mom I like that every time we use it we are helping our teeth on a variety of levels. It’s just not cleaning our teeth – it’s cleaning AND protecting our teeth.

I drink a lot of coffee and tea and I worry about how it might stain or erode the enamel on my teeth. This toothpaste not only protects the enamel but it also whitens my teeth too.

Enamel is what makes your teeth feel smooth. When the enamel starts to erode it gets bumpy and feels rough. When that happens it allows germs and bacteria to invade your tooth which can leave to tooth issues (cavities, sensitivity…).

This photo gives you some idea what I am talking about. The tile on the right is rough, which makes it easy for the chalk (germs/bacteria) to latch on to it. The tile on the left represents a tooth with healthy enamel. Notice how the chalk can’t stick to it?

This is why you need products like Colgate Enamel Health Multi-Protection Toothpaste.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the expression “one stop shop,” well this is the “one stop shop” for everything your teeth need, all rolled up into one toothpaste.

Another product I received is the Colgate Sensitive Toothbrush Built-In Sensitivity Relief Pen.

The Colgate Sensitive Toothbrush Built-In Sensitivity Relief Pen is a new toothbrush system designed to provide rapid and long-lasting sensitivity relief 24/7, right to the source of pain. It’s as easy as… BRUSH.APPLY.GO.

There really is a pen like device that sits in the end of the toothbrush. It’s easy to remove and use. Simply slid it out from the toothbrush, twist the end a few times to release the product, then rub it around the area that is sensitive, wipe the excess off the pen and stick it back into the toothbrush.

The product that comes out of the pen helps ease the pain that comes from sensitivity. You don’t have to wait for it to dry or dissolve. Simply apply and get on with your life. It doesn’t taste any different than toothpaste. In fact it’s a lot like toothpaste as far as the consistency and taste is concerned.

To date I really haven’t had a need for the “pen”… yet. My sensitivty comes and goes. I even tried to enjoy some ice cream from Baskin-Robbins and there were no sensitivty issues, so I can’t honestly tell you how well the pen works. I have tried it, but just to give it a “test drive.” I’ll update my post at a later date when I have had more opportunities to see how this pen really works.
