Show Off Saturday... a Pegboard Organization Idea

There is something about January that makes you want to get organized, right??? Well, this pegboard was a Christmas gift from my husband and I love it so much! There are so many sewing tools you can organize on a pegboard: scissors, rulers, spools of ribbon and other notions... you can even buy little bins and baskets that hang nicely on a pegboard too for your smaller items.

But I really wanted a pegboard for my embroidery hoops. Why? Well, last year I added a new member to my family of sewing machines:

A Brother Entrepreneur Pro PR100e! I bought it second hand and was really nervous about that, but had it serviced soon after to find out all was good, whew! If you buy this machine used like I did, I strongly recommend Deborah Jones' Craftsy class Know Your Multi-Needle Embroidery Machine. It's so, so good and that's pretty much how I learned to use this machine - thank goodness for Craftsy! It's funny because the Brother service guy who came to my house to work on this machine recommended that I come to a class at his shop where Deborah Jones was about to teach, because she's the best, lol. Of course, her class is wonderful in person, I'm sure, but I was pretty happy to say that I had already learned a lot from her.

Anyway... about the pegboard! With 2 embroidery machines I was collecting lots of hoops and embroidery supplies and I really needed more storage. My peg board is perfect, and pretty cost-efficient too. We bought 1 sheet of pegboard (and used about 2/3 of it) and used some 1x1'' pine strips and 1/4 round trim that we already had in the garage. My husband attached 2 pine strips on the wall for attaching the top and bottom of the pegboard. The pine strips were secured to the wall with drywall anchors so they would hold the weight. Then he attached the pegboard with more screws.

Putting quarter-round trim around it was my idea - to make it prettier - but that's optional. My sweet hubby offered to caulk around it too, but I was too impatient to start hanging up my stuff, so I declined.

You can buy metal or plastic hooks, but I chose plastic hooks because I think they look nicer. Next I think I'm going to invest in some of those hanging bins for my peg board because there's still some room left around the hoops. :)

Having storage on the wall like this leaves me lots more room on the counter too - like for organizing scraps!

And now it's your turn to show off what you've been sewing this week - or your favorite sewing room organization tool. Upload a picture and show us in the Show Off Saturday Picture Party!

Remember, you don't need to have blog to add your picture and show off something you made this week. Just leave the 'link' field blank. But if you do have a blog and want to add a link to your picture, great! The most clicked link will be spotlighted here next Friday.

I would love it if you shared with the hashtag #showoffsaturday too! Let's spread the party worldwide!

And don't forget to share the love and visit some of the other fun blogs in the party.

Please, no links to items for sale. Those links will be deleted. Thank you!
