So here’s a moment that I’m truly proud to share – my first cover for GRITTY PRETTY Magazine, starring none other than dreamy 70s wonderbabe, Jessica Hart, shot and styled by yours truly. We’d spoken indirectly through our respective agents, and met briefly at a Michael Kors store launch event in New York just after Fashion Week over there, and had intended to shoot a cozy beauty story while we were both in the same part of the world, but alas – polar vortexes do things to schedules that sunnier parts of the world will never understand.
Next time, we said.
The stars aligned while Jess was back in Sydney for a few days for a round of press on her make-up line, Luma, and with a good dose of Eleanor’s hustling we found ourselves sprawled all over the most beautiful cars I’ve ever shot, Jess a golden, piecey-fringed goddess in layer on layer of the season’s most wallpapered prints and rawest edges. The great thing about shooting Jess (and surely, what has gotten her so far in her international career) is how well she takes abstract direction. It’s the X factor, for those of you who are aspiring models – the ability to translate “think Farrah Fawcett suppressing road rage with Joni Mitchell on the radio” to a beautiful still deserves some kind of prize.
