This is a tricky time of year for shopping. Everything is incredibly tempting because sales are around every corner. We still have a ways to go with cold weather and winter-y things, so the temptation to scoop up sweaters and scarves and hats is quite difficult to resist.
However, I'm trying. Once again, I'm hoping to activate my new year's resolution to be better to myself, which includes my closet. Instead of seizing the instant gratification of sale sweaters, I'm focusing on the long game. In this case, a bag.
I have been lusting for a bucket bag for some time now, but have been reluctant to pull the trigger. My heart leaps for Mansur Gavriel's sleek, minimalist designs, but I'm not quite flush enough with cash to make the full investment. That's why I was so glad to stumble upon J. Crew's 'Downing' bucket bag. It's got a much more casual, bohemian feel than the MG bag, but still has a relatively simple, unfussy design. Plus, it's genuine leather and under $150.
Bucket bags are on-trend now, but rest assured they are a modern classic you'll wear season after season (and year after year). I can't say the same for those sale sweaters.
