A Product of the 90’s.

The revival of the 90s decade does not come as a disappointment to me at all. I’m all about the oversized plaid, big black boots, and, yes, even the fake tattoo necklaces (though you’ll never catch me wearing one). Spotting these trends around town reminds me of the afternoons I spent perfecting my monkey bar skills while singing my favorite Alanis Morisette song (Head Over Feet, duh), when my brother and I would come running whenever we heard the “Doug” theme song, and always looking forward to the walk to the local drug store so I could buy Bubble Tape and Warheads.

This look is a grown up tribute to the age I was when I first became aware of my appearance… even though it often involved mood rings, butterfly clips, and loose glitter. The torn jeans remind me of the grungier days, and this hairstyle is one that I wore nearly every day for several years. My mom told me it flattered my face one time, which it something she may have regretted after achieving this look became a part of our morning ritual. So here’s to my mom – Thank you for your patience with me as a child, and thanks sending me this top, too. This 90s Ann Taylor turtleneck is one of the few pieces she has hung on to over the years, and I feel really lucky to own it now.
