Raw Garlic Cloves Are On Point

I freaking LOVE eating raw garlic.

I know, I know, poor Michael.

It’s this really weird obsession. Really though, I pop that shit in my mouth like they’re sour Skittles & have a full on dance party by myself.

You might be thinking ‘you’re NASTY, ewww, bye.’

BUT WAIT!!!

Garlic is known as a WONDER DRUG, guys.

It’s kind of the best thing ever & some of the benefits are instant gratification, so before you be a Judge Judy read on, k?

Ok so a few things before we begin- if you decide to hop on my raw garlic train, make sure you have a toothbrush handy. Let’s just say your breath will smell like a dirty toad that fell in poo. Funny how I literally don’t care because the benefits just completely out weigh the breath smell. Plus, that’s why God invented toothbrushes- for garlic lovers, duh.

I’m not going to lie I’ve been weirdly excited to share garlic’s benefits with you. So if you notice JAZZ HANDS throughout this post, don’t be alarmed- I’m just SO EXCITED & I JUST CAN’T HIDE IT about this post…

Why I eat raw garlic cloves, like everyday:

No bullshit, during Egyptian times it was used as a traditional remedy to aid in health & treat many different diseases ( AKA Egyptian’s couldn’t pop over to their local Rite-Aid & grab an antibiotic so they had to make due!! ).

It’s filled with the good stuff…according to this source: “intact cells in garlic contain a natural compound called alliin. When you crush garlic cloves by chewing them, alliin is released from broken cells and contacts a garlic enzyme called alliinase. Alliinase converts alliin into a volatile oil, allicin, which is a main active ingredient in crushed garlic. Garlic also contains other oils, called ajoenes and terpenes, as well as several water-soluble compounds. Some amino acids, Vitamin C, calcium, iron and other minerals are also components of fresh garlic.”

Chewing raw ( RAW!! ) garlic may lower your risk of developing several types of cancers. This is because the compounds in garlic can stop cancer cells from dividing & may cause them to die. PLUS IT BOOSTS THE IMMUNE SYSTEM LIKE NO OTHER!

It’s known to lower cholesterol & reduce blood pressure in people with high blood pressure.

Garlic kills infection and helps fight viruses. In fact, I’m looking in to make garlic soup next time I’m feeling sick. The recipe I found is here & looks supppppper interesting. Basically raw garlic is known for its anti-bacterial & anti-fungals powers!!

& ONE of my FAVS: “oxidative damage from free radicals contributes to the aging process. Garlic contains antioxidants that support the body’s protective mechanisms against oxidative damage. High doses of garlic supplementation have been shown to increase antioxidant enzymes in humans ( source ).”

WHAT ELSE can I tell you about garlic. Oh, I typically eat them while I’m cooking. Usually three cloves. The allicin compound only comes to live when the garlic is crushed or cleaved & RAW!! So uncooked.

If you just CAN’T RIGHT NOW, then at least add some diced garlic to your salad/sauce or AT LEASTTTT take a daily garlic supplement or try garlic extract. Another fun way to get your garlic is to mash up raw garlic, mix it with olive oil & lemon and spread it on a piece of sprouted toast. YUMMMM.

No one will convince me to give up garlic cloves. I will undoubtedly be eating them the rest of my life— even when I’m 97 years old, walking my cat, & wearing a YMCA visor.

Basically I don’t care if it smells, garlic is necessary.

Anyone else a die-hard garlic fan?

Chat soon, Lauryn xx
