Stella in Peppermint Rose by Verna Mosquera

Stella. What can I say? I love this pattern. She’s got that boutique look that sets her apart from a lot of peasant patterns out there. While she packs a powerful, princessy punch, she is a labor of love, and sometimes you just don’t have time for all of those stripwork pieces and all of those ruffles. Can I get an AMEN?!?

Stella is getting a bit of a makeover this summer and I’m hoping to bring her to to the world of PDF soon. She’s going to go through a bit of a trim and an update, with a solid skirt option, as well as a tunic length view. In the meantime, I will leave you with my latest version, sewn in the gorgeous Peppermint Rose fabric from Verna Mosquera and Free Spirit Fabrics.

Now, I know you’re thinking, “Um, Jessica, isn’t this a CHRISTMAS line?!?!” And you’d be right! I would argue that these colors are so beautiful and romantic, they really don’t have a season, even if the green and red and pink suggest otherwise.

This takes me back to my early days of sewing, when my signature style was very shabby chic and full of florals and plaids and soft colors. Those will always have a special place in my heart and I love that Verna’s lines resonate with that part of me.

Peppermint Rose would be a great addition to any spring sewing projects, but if you like to plan a few months out, you could tuck it away for some sweet Christmas gifts, too!

Fabrics used: Peppermint Rose in Cranberry, Rosettes in Dove, and Christmas Plaid in Cranberry

Huge thanks to Free Spirit for sponsoring the fabric for this post! Stay tuned for a NEW series coming soon: The Artist UnSEWn!!!
