Adventures in Mammoth
Before I start, I need to say THANK YOU all so much for your kind, loving words after my last post. I received TONS of DMs, emails, comments, texts, etc. and every single one made my heart warm. Not one came with any negativity and I appreciate that more than you could ever know. You all just get it. And that’s why I love this little community. Posting about my divorce was freeing and it really helped me to step into this new chapter. Thanks for loving/following me through the messy parts of my life.

You know how sometimes you meet someone for like five seconds and you just click? That’s how it was with my friend Emily. We followed each other on IG for yearrrrrs and then finally decided to meet up in real life. We grabbed coffee and went on a beach walk which turned into an instant friendship and plans for a Mammoth trip.
Fast forward one month and we were in a car together driving 6 hours to the Sierras. What can I say – I’m always down for an adventure.
Like I mentioned in a previous post, nature has been one of the greatest healers for me. She did me real good the last few months and this trip was no exception.
On Saturday we did two shorter hikes, one in Mammoth and then out by June Lake. Holy gorgeous. The Sierras are no joke. I probably said “oh my god” a thousand times (poor, Emily). I just couldn’t get over the fall colors and the towering mountains.
We saved our longer hike for Sunday so we could fully acclimate to the elevation before trekking 13 miles. We drove out to Yosemite and did Clouds Rest from Tenaya Lake. I give this hike 5 stars and highly recommend it to anybody. You start in the woods and after a mile or so begin climbing switchbacks that are basically stone steps. The varying terrain keeps it interesting so you never lose interest. When you get to the top, you’re met with sweeping views of half dome and all of Yosemite. GLORIOUS.
We had two full days of hiking, tasting beer, eating delicious food and getting that good ol’ mountain sleep. It was just what the doctor ordered.
I feel like I’ve done a pretty damn stellar job of getting my nature fix the last several months, and now it’s time to kick my feet up and just BE. If you notice my instagram and blog slowing down again, don’t worry, I’m not in a sad lonely hole somewhere. It just means I’m busy living.

Side note: I desperately need someone to help with a site re-design/refresh. If you know of anybody reasonable, yet wickedly talented, send them my way. This ol’ thang needs a facelift.
