Somebody’s prayin…

There was a song that was very popular when I was in high school:

Somebody’s prayin, I can feel it
Somebody’s prayin’ for me
Mighty hands are guiding me
To protect what I can’t see
Lord I believe, Lord I believe
That somebody’s prayin’, for me. – Ricky Skaggs

I can tell you with absolute certainty that I can tell I am being lifted high. Thank you. The anxiety is a little more manageable and the days are brighter.

It’s funny how that works, isn’t it? As soon as I finally surrender and share what is happening, people start to pray.

How can they help if I don’t share what is going on? No idea.

So there you have it. I still feel a little self conscious sharing about anxiety and depression here in this space, I can tell you have been praying. And that is what matters.

Speaking of prayer – it’s funny – a few weeks ago Brian told me that I should share with you what our family does with Christmas Cards. He doesn’t usually make suggestions like that – so I figure that I better share!

After Christmas break, I stack the Christmas cards next to the dinner table. Each night at dinner, we take 10 cards. We talk to the kids about who sent us the cards and why they are special to our family. It is such a great way to talk about extended family or friends we haven’t seen in years. This year, some of the cards belonged to the kids and their friends from school, so that was fun to have them tell us about the families on the cards.

After we are done, we say a very simple prayer over the cards:

Dear Father, please bless this family. Please give them rest, peace, and wisdom in this coming year. Please surround them with angels and fill them with Your love. Amen.

I love this tradition. It makes my heart so happy to talk about the friendship and special memories of people that God has woven into our lives. It makes me feel like I am really getting the most out of each and every card. (Does that make sense?).

Do you do anything special with your cards?

Have a great week!
