The five reasons you aren’t getting engagement on your blog

1. You’re not engaging yourself
   One of the best ways to start seeing an increase in engagement on your blog is to start engaging with others. Drop comments on other people’s posts and leave your blog link as an invitation to comment back. I’m far more likely to comment on someone’s blog if they have taken the time to comment on mine. It’s the “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” kind of philosophy.
2. You have to log in to comment
   Having to log in or create an account to comment on a blog can seem like a lot of hard work and will put some people off. Try to make sure that your comment section is open and simple to operate to make it as easy as possible for your readers to comment.
3. Your comment section is hard to find
   Similarly to the point above I’ve been on many blogs where I’ve spent ages trying to even find where the comment section is. If your comment section can’t be seen how do you expect people to be prompted to comment? If it takes me more than a few seconds to see a nice open comment box I more often than not skip commenting.
4. You don’t have a call to action
   A call to action is a little question at the end of your post sparking a conversation with your readers. If your post was about “My top five favourite Starbucks drinks” you could make your call to action something like “what’s your favourite Starbucks drink? Let me know in the comments!” People are far more likely to do something if you tell them to, so ask them to comment.
5. You don’t promote your content
   You may already have engaging content and be implementing all of the above but if you’re not promoting it then it won’t be receiving its potential attention. Whenever you publish a new post be sure to also publish it across all of your other social media platforms, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, etc… and leave a call to action on each of them encouraging people to click your links and get reading your posts.
