SHAKERS Fine Spirits & Wine Lounge Coming to Pigtown

SHAKERS Fine Spirits & Wine Lounge, the newest business coming to Pigtown, will have a strong connection to the community right across the street, Ridgely’s Delight. Brent Fuller, who lived in Ridgely’s Delight for 10 years, and Derrick Vaughan, owner of The Corner Bistro & Wine Bar in Ridgely’s Delight, a Top 10-rated restaurant and wine bar on TripAdvisor and Yelp, are teaming up to open a new upscale bar with a light-fare menu at the former Jigg’s Tavern at 737 Carroll St.

Fuller and Vaughan are hoping to bring new life to the property, which has been home to one of the oldest bars in the area. A full renovation is currently underway at the 2,400 sq. ft. building that includes a bar area on the first floor and a dining room and an additional bar on the second floor. The roof has been replaced, the electric and utilities are being updated, new floors are being installed, and cosmetic updates are in process. They also plan on completing renovations to the exterior of the building which will include a new awning, windows, planters, and more.

SHAKERS will open with a small kitchen, offering light fare, but Fuller and Vaughan are hoping to build a much larger kitchen in the near future. The property is two rowhouses wide and currently the first floor of the second rowhouse is unused space. It is in that space where they will look to build a new kitchen. Fuller and Vaughan are also hoping to add outdoor seating in the future.

The bar offerings will include a large selection of wines, cocktails, spirits, and local craft beer. “We really want to showcase all the great beers that are brewed right here in Baltimore,” said Fuller.

The duo is working diligently on the renovations and permit process and is hoping to have a soft opening by the Orioles’ Opening Day. “We are excited to bring a place to Pigtown where people can have a great meal and drinks,” said Fuller. “The recent Pigtown Main Street Strategic Business Plan identified the need for more dining options in the neighborhood, so we are excited that we can provide that to the community.”

Fuller and Vaughan are also hoping to put on events to bring together the residents and businesses in the community. “We are going to invite local food trucks like Pigtown-based Pizza di Joey to come out for nights at SHAKERS and we are hoping to host some block parties where we can show off all the other great places to eat in the area,” said Fuller.
