Dressing Like Olivia Pope

My birthday week continues with one of my favorite shows, Scandal, mixed with one of my style icons, Kerry Washington, and my love of clothes. What could be better? As I posted last week, the show partnered up with a clothing store and The Limited’s Scandal collection came out yesterday - I am obsessed. When I read back in June that The Limited was not only working with costume designer Lyn Paolo, but also with Kerry Washington herself I was incredibly exited to see how the pieces would come out. They sure did not disappoint and I love this quote from Kerry:

“Women often feel that they have to be either smart or beautiful, powerful or pretty, either fashion forward or successful, and I think this clothing line says you can be all of those things,” Washington says. “You can be fabulous and fearless. And you don’t have to compromise who you are as a woman to fit somebody’s expectation of what power looks like.”

I would agree with many of the press releases I read while waiting to see all of the pieces – the wardrobe staples and statement pieces alike are strong, professional, confident and “always impeccable”. A few of the 78 items are a bit pricey, ranging from $180 to $250, but they are beautiful! (The collection starts at $50) Here are my favorite pieces:

Dolman Wrap Coat in Tan and Drape Collar Wrap Coat in Sage Green

Black and White Sheath Dress

Officer’s Pencil Skirt in Black and Off White

Printed Split-V Blouse

Keyhole Halter Top in Green and Pink

The show returns tomorrow night, preceded by the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, and it is almost like an early birthday present. I can not wait to see the Gladiators back in action! And I’m #TeamFitz just in case anyone was wondering, how could you not be after Vermont?
