Our MommyShorts Morning

Today I am so excited to share that I'm featured on the blog MommyShorts. If you don't know that blog, 1) I'm not sure if we should be friends anymore, and 2) What rock have you been living under?

MommyShorts is my #1 favorite blog. Ilana, who runs it, is hilarious, her photos are always amazing, and she is just so cool. Because her kids are basically the same age as mine (and seem to be into the same things: pink, Frozen, iPads), I always think of Ilana as the Drew Barrymore of bloggers--the kind of girl you just want to be BFFs with.

So you can imagine my excitement when I was recently chosen to be featured on her site as the first installment in a four-part series with Responsibility.org about talking to your kids.

We shot the story last week and it was such a fun experience! The sweet, wonderful, and incredibly talented photographer Raquel Bianca came over to shoot us walking to school (that's where my daughter and I do the bulk of our talking--we call it our "special time" since it's just the two of us).

It was kind of hilarious actually. Since my daughter and I were just walking naturally while she was taking photos, and not really stopping to pose, it totally looked like we were being followed by paparazzi. We got some strange looks--and I got to see how it feels to be Angelina Jolie for a morning.

And can we talk about those photos? The pictures Raquel captured are just amazing. I especially love them because we're not particularly dressed up, we're not doing anything crazy or super eventful. They're windows into one of our normal, every day mornings, and Raquel made them look beautiful.

Definitely head over to MommyShorts to check out tons more photos and get the full story of how I approach big issues with my daughter--including my number one topic for getting little ones to open up.

Thanks so much, Ilana, for including us!
