REVLON ColorStay - Best Drugstore Creme Eye Shadow?

Some of you may have noticed I took a little break from blogging but I'm very happy to say I'm back! And what better way to restart than with one of my favourite types of beauty products?

If you've followed me throughout the years, you probably already know I'm obsessed with cream eyeshadows. One of my all time favourite is the Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze. So when I saw another high street brand had come out with similar product, I had to put it to the test.

Revlon Colorstay Creme Eyeshadows are not that new. I think they came out in the beginning of the year but I admit I've only noticed them in my local stores recently. The collection is simply beautiful! It comes in a total of 12 shades, some of which are very different from any shade I've seen in the drugstore. However, at least in the UK, I've only been able to find 6 colours. I hope at some point they will bring out more but for now, I managed to get my hands on 3 of them.

Revlon 710 Caramel is essentially a dupe for Maybelline On and On Bronze. It's a gorgeous metallic bronze. It's not very warm, so I'd say it'll be flattering with any skin and eye colour. As cliché as it sounds, it's the ideal every day shade.

Revlon 730 Praline is a stunning metallic rose gold. This one reminds me a lot of Mac Vintage Selection Paint Pot (which I reviewed here) and the Make Up Forever Aqua Creme Eyeshadow in the shade 13. The Revlon one, however, has turned out to be my favourite out of the three. Not only it's way cheaper, but the formula is so smooth, it glides on easily on the lid, leaving an even wash of colour. Praline is that perfect product to apply on a busy day with some mascara and out you go. I love it!

Revlon 740 Black Current is the shade that caught my attention the most amongst the ones I could find. It's a vibrant icy purple / lilac shade with a ton of micro silver glitter. Very unique in my opinion and so sparkly. Beautiful one for the evening, with a darker shadow on the crease to deepen it. In fact, I think the dark shimmery grey shade from the collection, called 755 Licorice, would be amazing to pair with black currant. Sadly it wasn't available in my local shop so I couldn't pick it up.

They all come with a little brush, built into the cap, which is a great idea, except I personally didn't like it. I found it rather difficult to pick up any product with it. So for me, applying the eyeshadows with my fingers is much better.

So my overall thoughts are that these eyeshadows are brilliant! The colour selection is very pretty and wearable. The formula is light weight, super blendable (more so than the Maybelline ones) and lasts really well, even in hot days. You have to build up a bit to achieve the right opacity but that's not a bad thing in my view, as it allows you to control better how much product you want to apply and whether you want it to look sheer or not. And the best of all, it doesn't crease. One of my eyes seem a little greasier than the other and on that one it did move a tiny bit but so little I wouldn't even call it creasing and I only applied a very light layer. I'm still testing these but so far, my verdict is they are worth the buy! And I'm gonna be bold enough to say they may have stolen the crown from the Maybelline Color Tattoos.

They retail for £6.99 but both Boots and Superdrug are currently having a 3 for 2 "mix and match" promotion on selected beauty products.
