I’ve been a fan of Beauty Without Cruelty for ages and if you happen to be a vegan/vegetarian, animal lover, or green beauty enthusiast, you should be too!
If you’re unfamiliar, BWC is a natural beauty brand which has an extensive selection of hair, skin, nail, body, and makeup products that are all lovingly made. They’re all vegetarian/vegan and cruelty-free, 100% natural, and the most incredible part is they’ve been doing it since 1963. The brand was founded by 2 lovely British ladies from the UK who were both animal lovers and vegetarians and sought out a kinder way to beauty. Thus, BWC was born.
I’ve reviewed many of their others products on this blog and today’s review focuses on two of their beautiful lip colors! I had previously tried one of their lipsticks in a coral color, but that was years ago and they’ve added more colors since then. Both the lip gloss and lipstick are beautifully crafted, gentle, hydrating to the lips, and have great color payoff and pigmentation. The gloss is, of course, very sheer while the lipstick is a lot more opaque.
The lipstick is in Deep Plum and comes from their Natural Infusion Lipsticks line. They have so many beautiful colors in this line! I love this deep purple color because it’s a legit dark plum color; a lot of plum/purple colors look dark in the tube and go on more like magentas. This one is deeply colored, very pigmented, and an intense color. You could layer other colors over it if you wanted to lighten it up a bit, but I personally like the color as it.
Natural Infusion Lipstick Ingredients: Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, Ricinus Communis (castor)
seed oil, Candelilla Wax, Oleic/Linoleic/Linolenic Polyglycerides,
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Mica, D&C Red 6 BA, FD&C Blue IAL Lake, Titanium
Dioxide, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba Wax), Silica, D&C Red 7 CA, Stearalkonium
Hectorite, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E).
As for the natural lip gloss, I got it in the color Wild Berry and it’s the perfect gloss for spring time! It lends just enough of a reddish glossy tint to the lips which feels very natural spring makeup, in my opinion and I think it’s perfect for those who are wary of going for full-on pigmented lip colors or just want a flush of color. These glosses are perfect for that!
Natural Lip Gloss Ingredients: OLEIC/LINOLEIC/LINOLENIC POLYGLYCERIDES, RICINUS COMMUNIS (CASTOR) SEED OIL, HYDROXYSTEARIC ACID, SUCROSE ACETATE, ISOBUTYRATE, CANDELILLA CERA (CANDELILLA WAX), POLYGLYCERYL-8 DECABEHENATE/DECACAPRATE, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA)
SEED OIL, TOCOPHEROL ACETATE (VITAMIN E), MICA, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, D&C RED 33, IRON OXIDE, RED 6 LAKE, TIN OXIDE.
Overall, I really love these gorgeous lip colors. BWC is a great brand and I think they have a lot to be proud of. It’s really difficult to create products that are cruelty-free and vegan all around so I think that’s the big strong point for them. I would like to see them go a bit more natural with their line of products, especially in regard to their lip colors, as the only thing I dislike about this lipstick is the use of artificial dyes like Blue and Red Lake colors. I understand that it can be difficult to use alternative methods of coloring, but I hope they can update this part of their line soon because I think it’s important to many people to not use their artificial colorants/dyes in products. Maybe they can update them with floral, fruit, or ayurvedic powders like other brands have done! Other than that, I think it’s very impressive what they’ve accomplished thus far and I think for those who are mainly concerned with vegan, cruelty-free and in some cases, gluten-free options, this is a wonderful brand to look to for options!
