Catching Up From the Camera Roll, Facing Fears and This Week’s Focus

Hey!

Let’s play a little catch up, shall we? It’s going to be in chronological order just because that’s how the pictures are on the camera roll.

I teach spin Thursday nights at a super fancy gym, Fit Athletic, and I do my best to fit in. I’m not sure if wearing slippers to and from the gym before and after teaching class is really the way to do it though. Ha.

I try to make up for it with good music, lots of sweat and fun hills and sprints.

Friday night was pretty much was better than I thought it would be. Who could beat this?

Right? It’s okay to be jealous. It actually got even better afterwards.

I found this peanut butter beer at Costco the other week and finally decided to give it a try. It was very peanut buttery. It was good, but really thick and I still can’t figure out what kind of food it would go well with.

Saturday morning I slept in and it was glorious. Then I even got to take a little run outside. I didn’t have a plan except to get a few miles in before we had a million other things to do.

It’s weird not really having a plan or anything at the moment. I can’t figure out if it’s a relief or making me a little unsettled to not have any goals or a focus with running right now.

The highlights from Saturday were definitely this photo booth

and this skateboarding dog.

After running errands Judah had the brilliant idea to have me do a little workout outside.

The entire workout lasted approximately five minutes, but I did manage to make a little money each time I ran up the stairs.

he gave me a coin every time for a totally of ten times.

Then I was instructed to do a little core work. Three moves- sandbag rows with a lunge, push ups and v-sit.

My form was a little off I guess.

Saturday night we went all out thanks to Trader Joe’s.

That frozen Japanese rice though. Seriously, if you haven’t tried it, you have to.

I went on a bit of a Vitacost shopping binge. It’s easy to do, especially when they have good coupons and free shipping and I’m all out of rice and corn cakes. I’m going to be set for awhile.

Andrew had the day off of work today so I got to run outside again. I really wish I could more often, but with my work schedule it just doesn’t happen. Again I didn’t have a real plan, I just knew I wanted to try to get a double digit run in. I purposely took a really hilly route because I wanted to work for it a bit.

I can’t work for it with speed these days so I decided a slow climb would be just as good.

I also purposely made myself run on some trails.

Trail running scares the heck out of me. I wish it didn’t, but I’m always so scared of snakes and that some random crazy animal will come out of nowhere and attack me. I have problems.

But…….

I’m working on a couple personal things at the moment and one of them is facing my fears. I always say I’m going to face them, but don’t really take the steps I need to actually do it.

I’m finally taking baby steps. It’s going to be a long, slow process with them, but each new day is a new day to face things head on. Yes?

My run ended up being 15 miles.

Longest run in a while. I need to figure out a plan of action for the next few months with running, but right now I’m just taking it day by day and focusing on other life stuff.

Stuff like being in the moment with these guys and finally going to our first family Padre game together with Andrew’s family.

Obviously besides the overly priced food, the only thing we really wanted to buy was a foam finger.

Yes!

I brought my own snacks. This was my favorite one. Oh how I love Strong and KIND bars.

Thai sweet chili and the jalapeño one are my favorites.

It was a great day.

The only thing that would have been better was if I could have taken one of these awesome things home with us.

How cool is that? I so need this ginormous Cholula bottle with a pump. That’s just brilliant.

On a more serious note, my main focus for this week is to be better about getting more resistance training in. I’ve gotten lazy about it lately and I can totally tell. I never had the chance to before because I taught so many classes every week and it just happened because I taught them. It’s a lot harder to skip out on it when you have to schedule it out for myself. I guess I make it even harder when I press the snooze button three times too. Ha.

I’m also doing the whole “less is more” thing with blogging time and running time. I’m just trying to do the best with the time I have and not try to overwork myself to “make” more time. That’s just silly. I can’t “make” more time, but I can just be smart with the time I already have. Right?

And it’s time to use gifts in good ways instead of in selfish ways. It’s so easy for selfish ways to sneak in there, isn’t it? I’m learning right along with the boys every night.

Okay, enough for now.

Let’s bring on this Monday, face fears head on, make the best of the time we have instead of wishing we had more and use our gifts in good ways.

Less is more.

Have a wonderful start to your week!

What’s your focus this week?

Any baseball fans out there? (I can’t say I’m a fan, I go to a game every three to four years of so. I’m guessing that might change though now as the boys get older.)

Who else is scared of trail running and what scares you the most?
