It’s Finally Spring Break

Spring Break officially started yesterday afternoon. Ours is later, but I’ll take it. I’m so ready. Ready for spring break and relaxing and doing some serious spring cleaning, not so much ready for the Boston Marathon which is now in less 9 days. It kind of makes me feel like barfing, but hey, “IF it doesn’t make you want to barf in your mouth, you’re not doing it right.” (Quote from Jay on Modern Family.)

Last year I was more than ready for Boston, this year, well it’s pretty much a miracle that I even got in a few long runs to prepare. It’s going to be a much different experience. More on that later though. To be honest I’ve been blocking it out in case it didn’t’ happen and it’s finally sinking in that it is happening.

I haven’t been keeping track at all of my weekly mileage. I’m just doing what I can. I actually got in my first double digit run in over 5 months that was under an 8 minute mile pace the other day.

I’ll take that and it will probably be my last one for a lot longer than 5 months. Ha.

Random order of things coming up, but they are all from my phone.

I’m digging the whole Swagger Wagon. Is it weird that I feel cool driving a minivan when I’m all alone?

I’ve made this really amazing mocha protein cake a couple of times lately with Vega One mocha flavored protein powder and topped the heck out of it with peanut free NuttZo and honey.

It’s so darn good. I want it right now in fact, but I’m leaving to teach an early morning Saturday spin class at the gym so it might have to wait.

It’s so darn good though. I’ll have to give you the recipe. I love those easy, single serving healthy protein treats.

The coffee we’ve been drinking lately is this one from Starbucks. It’s so good.

Oh and I’ve been really lazy about cooking this week and this awesome Japanese rice from the Trader Joe’s freezer section is amazing. The boys and Andrew love it.

The boys started a new soccer season with the big kids the other day. Since they are green I decided I must have a green drink for every game. Ha.

I love, love, love teaching spin on Thursday nights. I’m usually exhausted by then and seating like crazy with some good music is just the perfect thing.

The other night I realized about halfway through class I was still wearing my sunglasses. I really know how to keep it classy. Ha.

Yesterday’s morning run was 8 miles before work. Thank you for suggesting the movie Begin Again. It’s a good one.

And here are three really great things to leave you with this fine Saturday morning.

These guys and I always have to make wishes on dandelions.

I wished for the best mommy/son hangout time this coming week while I’m off work and that they boys would be really nice to each other all the time, Judah wished he could drive and Joaquin did his standard wish of wanting everything to be made out of chocolate.

And, our little chick from the other day hatched and it doing well.

The boys and Andrew got her a friend to keep her company. Meet Carol the cassowary chick and Fluff. Yes, we do in fact have cassowaries (link to an really old post with pictures here).

Lots of babies hatching around here.

Okay. Time to get a move on.

Have a wonderful weekend!
