The Silk Life Project Continues and Gym Machines I Use

For the past several months I’ve been working with Silk on a campaign for a little self improvement project. I just looked up the first post I wrote about it. Here’s what I wrote:

I’ve been talking forever about taking steps to be a better mom while still finding time to fit in fitness and running and taking care of myself. I’ve scaled things down a lot and am trying to simplify all aspects of life. So far so good, but there’s still a lot to do.

That’s kind of what this morning’s race was about. I love running and racing, but lately my focus has been more on just trying to maintain fitness and appreciate the running I can do while still taking things easy and focusing on family first.

Simplifying life is so much easier said than done. I say I want to do it, but day after day I’m know for making things a lot harder than they need to be. I seriously can take the easiest task and make it difficult. It’s a skill. Ha.

That was back in June and we’re slowly getting there friends. All big life changing projects are not easy and take lots of time and energy and focus, but I feel like steps are being taken in the right direction and gosh darn it, it’s time. Ha.

I’ve been running and working out a little less, but still really focusing on making the hard days harder so the easier days can be easier.

Yesterday started with an interval run at the crack of dawn. I wasn’t ready for that early alarm again, but ready or not it’s happening. Ha.

Like that shin sweat? The treadmill said 7 miles, my Polar V800 said 6.01.

I had to teach at the gym too so I stayed and hit up the weights and a few machines afterwards. When I’m pressed for time, but want to get a little extra resistance training in I do a few of my favorite machines only.

Here’s what I do:

weighted walking lunges

incline leg press

assisted pull-ups/dips (2 sets of each)

TRX push ups/rows (2 sets of each)

decline sit ups/crossovers

Here’s some pictures in case you feel like being my workout buddy.

I’m missing a picture of the pull up assist machine, but I’ve posted it multiple times before so you’re probably sick of seeing it. Ha.

Today I did an hour of easy pace running early in the morning.

I made a point to not step off the treadmill as much and the difference this time wasn’t too bad.

This is what I walked back into after I was done.

I know you mamas can relate.

I had to do a little car breakfast eating today and one of them was this Flatout egg white havarti breakfast sandwich I made in the sandwich maker.

I got down on the ground for just a few minutes this afternoon. I swear at least once a day I’m on the ground at some point to do some kind of plank. Even if it’s just for a minute or so, it feels so good.

So we’re wrapping up summer around here and trying to get back into the school mindset. With that we’re stocking up on all our go to grocery favorites and I really don’t think I’m the only one who gets excited when they see Silk cashewmilk (or any kind of Silk milk) on sale.

You better believe we’re going there soon even though our second fridge currently looks like this.

Ha ha ha.

I’ve been drinking both of these daily. Actually sometimes I drink them, but mostly I’m consuming Silk protein ice cream like this.

I’m just trying to take advantage of each minute we have left of summer. There aren’t enough. Ha.

Seriously though this summer was the best thing that could have happened for me personally. I needed some time to regroup and figure out where my time and energy really needed to be spent. I’m still figuring it out, but I hope to keep taking baby steps. If you want to make changes, you HAVE to make it a priority. You also have to remember that it’s never going to be easy, but each day it does get a bit easier and you believe in yourself and your goals a little more.

Have a good one!
