THE TRAVEL FILES: SOPHIA CALDERY SUITES ON SANTORINI

Santorini is high on my list of places to visit. I have been to this beautiful Greek island before but that was in 1990 when I was island hopping during summer school holiday. It will be hard to choose accommodation as the island has some stunning hotels. For example Sophia Caldera Suites which offers beautiful, spacious, luxury living hotel suites. This romantic traditionally modern boutique property has individually styled suites and rooms with the infamous Caldera sunset view. The building was reconstructed and renovated with the appropriate care, during 2015. The original manor houses were built more than 150 years ago by a Turkish business man who was in love with the island. He was one of the most important philhellene and moreover he was over fascinated by the Cycladic architecture and philosophy of the Greek islands. During the first construction he found and kept them safe a lot of antiques as well as genuine Santorinian artifacts and unique items of different sections of the island’s history. The retreat itself is nestled in the heart of the colorful volcanic rocks. All 13 individually designed rooms and suites are stylish and beautiful decorated with an eye for details. I would certainly feel at home here! For more information, bookings and rates you can visit the hotel’s website.
