Cycling 101: The Best Cycle Bag From Brooks England

Since moving to Cambridge, England, cycling is no longer just a pastime – it’s a way of life around here. With the city tricky to negotiate by car, walking and cycling are the two best means of transport (with a very handy side effect on my level of fitness.)

Plenty of Cambridge cyclists manage to look pretty damn cool when they are getting around, not least because of their personal style, but because of their actual bikes (custom-made frames, saddles, baskets) and the equipment (bags, trouser straps: you name it, Cambridge has it).

British heritage brand Brooks England produce some of the best cycle bags in the business. Exhaustively tested during the design phase and created from only the finest materials, each style is designed to meet the individual needs of the cyclist. My small ‘Pickwick‘ is a versatile canvas roll-top backpack whose design complements the ease that epitomises an urban journey by bicycle.

The Pickwick is made from water-resistant cotton (you know how much rain and drizzle we get in England folks) and genuine Brooks leather trim, designed by André Klauser in London and manufactured in the hills of Tuscany by Italian artisans. The backpack features one secret pocket and one extra compartment, both hidden on the back of the bag. It’s a very sleek bag for cycling which is why I love it so much.

Plenty of cycle routes around Cambridge exist for visitors who want to explore this beautiful city by bike. Cycling is also a great way to see the beautiful open spaces and architecture of the city. Why not visit this summer and take a ride…
