Tattoo of Dreams

As a studious sixteen year old, tattoos seem this distant ambition for future me to be brave enough to have done. Although my threshold for pain is low and my family will insult every single one of them, I cannot wait to get tattoos as a means of expression and permanent reminders of things which I believe define me and my character. To me, they give a lure of mystery and wonder as each inking on a person's body tells a different story which strangers know nothing about but are simply left to guess.
Over the last year and a bit, I've accumulated the tattoos I most want, some of which the pictures reflect my visions perfectly while others are simply a basic starting point.
The Female Leo - A female lion to represent my Leo star sign, courage and strength, morphing into a woman (whose features will loosely reflect me) to reflect how I can embody those characteristics.
Location: Upper ribs behind forearm

The Willow Tree - Although symbolising growth, a willow tree tattoo for me started off as very much a meaningless one, simply based on how beautifully I view willow trees. The roots would be spread widely with the leafs draping dramatically around a wound up bark.
Location: Back of the neck

"She's a mess of gorgeous chaos; love her but leave her wild." - A combination of two of my favourite quotes, this quote sums up my glorified view of people as wonderful despite their flaws, a message to myself that I wouldn't get bored of reading. The "leave her wild" also connects with how I don't believe that we should change for anyone other than ourselves.
Location: Hip bone

An Austen Tribute - As cringe worthy as this may be, this tattoo is simply a tribute to my love for Pride and Prejudice and all things Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett - it doesn't always pay to be a romantic.
Location: Bra line

A Bronte Tribute - Unfortunately it doesn't end with Austen and I love the idea of paying homage to my love for Jane Eyre. Although definitely not this design, I would love a metal bird cage with flowers wound around it to symbolise the novel as well the idea of freedom and hidden beauty.
Location: Wrist

A Metaphoric Tour of the World - This map of the world is simply to reflect my love of travelling and my desire to travel as much as possible throughout my life. Hopefully seeing this tattoo will remind me of all the memories I have from the places I've been and the people I was with.
Location: Ankle

An Arrow in the Back - I love the idea of an arrow tattoo simply for its simplistic beauty, but also its connotations of strength and resilience.
Location: Back

The Literature Student - This wasn't a tattoo I planned prior to this post like all of the above which I'd had in mind for at least the past few months. I saw this image yesterday when thinking about this post and it spoke many words to me, which I think is the perfect sign of a great tattoo. The semi colon represents hope and never giving up due to how writers use it instead of ending a sentence (instead of giving up, carrying on). Although this is quite melodramatic, I think this is a great message to always carry around with you.
Location: Side of a finger

Leave me a comment with any tattoos that you love, whether you already have them or are thinking about getting them in the future!
