Smooth Talking Stranger (Travis Family #3) by Lisa Kleypas

What it’s about
Jack Travis leads the uncomplicated life of a millionaire Texas playboy. He makes no commitments, he loves many women, he lives for pleasure. But no one has ever truly touched his heart or soul. Until one day, a woman appears on his doorstep with fury on her face and a baby in her arms. It seems Jack is the father and this woman is the baby’s aunt. The real mother has abandoned the child to her more responsible sister. And now, Jack is being called upon to take responsibility for the first time in his life. With delicious romantic tension, characters so real they walk onto the page and into your heart, Lisa Kleypas delivers the kind of novel that makes you laugh, love; cry and cheer.

Crista’s Review

5 Stars!
Wow! Lisa Kleypas can WRITE! She NEVER disappoints and Smooth Talking Stranger is no exception to this rule! I was very concerned when she took the leap into contemporary romance. Her historicals are crazy good and I dare say legendary, and why mess with perfection. I shouldn't have worried. The Travis family is one of the most compelling and interesting families out there. Read them all (in order): Sugar Daddy, Blue Eyed Devil, and now Smooth Talking Stranger.
What I love about Kleypas's novels are her heroes. She can write men better than any author I know. Her men are bigger than life, but also completely smitten with the women they love. What it would be like to be on the receiving end of one of her heroes attentions....ahhh!
Sorry about the gush..now on with the review...
Smooth Talking Stranger is not as "heavy" as the previous two novels. This one does deal with a dysfunctional family, but doesn't delve into it to the degree that the previous ones did. This makes for a "lighter" and more "typical romance" instead of a novel bordering on women's fiction. Jack Travis just might be the perfect man (at least for me:). He is rich, powerful, sexy, kind, thoughtful.......the list could go on and on. He just didn't have any outstanding flaws...he did EVERYTHING right! He MADE this book for me.
Ella was also very appealing. She "finds" herself throughout this book and the reader gets to come along for the ride. There is a "baby factor" in this book, and I loved this newborn! Although he doesn't "do" anything meaningful (he's only 1 week old at the beginning of the book for heaven's sake!), his presence adds so much to the heart of this book. I love this "making of a family" story and I really think you will too!
Clear your schedule for the day...you'll want to read this in one sitting!
