8 Scrapbook Painting Tips | #NNDailyTip

Last summer, I began sharing a daily(ish) memory keeping tip on my Instagram under the hashtag #NNDailyTip. I took a little break, but I’m back at it with a weekly(ish) theme for those tips, which I’ll then collect and share here! This time I’m sharing painting tips for scrapbooking:

This week's tips are all about painting. See what textures you can find before adding things to your recycling bin–anything can be a sort of stamp! Here I used paint and bubble wrap to add a bit of texture to my background. #nndailytip

Add a little paint behind a layer of paper to bring in a contrasting color to a matchy-matchy paper color scheme. This will help those layers really stick out! #nndailytip

Even if painting is not your thing, a failed or practice attempt often looks good cropped down! Try a few techniques or color combinations and use cropped bits to create a grid background or patterned layers on your project. #nndailytip

Put paint on a brush, hold it over your project, and flick the brush handle to get paint splatters! #nndailytip (Page from #mydetailsclass–preclass is on now and new prompts start Monday!)

Dip the bottom of an old credit or business card in paint and swipe it across your project to create journaling lines! #nndailytip #nsd

Try stamping with paint–the results are messier (and work best with less detailed stamps), but the technique gives you a completely different look than staying with ink. #nndailytip

Have a background paper you don't love? Try lightly painting over it with a little with a dry brush–you'll still get texture from your original paper but will have a whole new look. This is an art journal I made by panting over mail catalog pages. #nndailytip

Paint the edges of papers in spiral bound mini books and art journals so you don't have to trim background paper around the holes! #nndailytip
