High Lights

Yesterday I talked about wearing the right clothes to welcome in the Chinese New Year. Here’s another look to bring us good fortune using the more traditional RED hue. Since the Chinese believe in the color red so much, there must be some truth to it’s prosperous capabilities! Why not overdose on it for extra luck, right? Besides, single color on color is a hot trend this season, so you’re hitting two birds with one stone when you wear it at the very start of the year!

I wore my sexy backless dress with a blazer in the same color to keep me covered while I attended meetings and a business briefing that day. Since I knew I was meeting a lot of important people, I made sure to dress well and make the right first impressions. The whole look was bold (shows confidence), cute (shows youthful vigor), fashionable (shows intelligence and ability to keep up to date with current trends), and business-y (shows professionalism). I know we’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover (or in this case, a person by what she wears), but first impressions really count, and as much as we hate it, they make a lasting impression. So, it’s best to be prepared! After all, if you dress up, you also end up feeling great, so its a win-win situation!

My dress was actually too loose on me (which is always the case due to my petite frame and one-size-fits-all type of clothes), so I did what I do best- style it! I gathered up the waste and cinched it with a gold chain belt which also acted as my major accessory for the outfit. I chose a brown classic LV bag (was debating whether to use my Michael Kors tote, but figured a sling bag would look better) and tan shoes to match. I also attempted to throw on an Alexander McQueen scarf but figured I had too much going on already!) To cap off the look, I sprinkled on some gold in the form of characteristic jewellry to keep the look modern without having to pile on a ton of arm candy. The pieces i chose (rings, watch) aren’t your typical connector ring or beaded/braided/bonded bracelets. They look simple, but when you look into the details, you see that theyre actually styled to bring more personality into my outfit! (Does that make sense at all to you? lol Cause it totally makes sense in my head!)

I really really love how these photos came out! I took them with my new Canon 24-70mm F2.8 lens and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Plus, they’re photos during magic hour, and who doesn’t love a good golden sun? This new lens has gotten me thinking… maybe I should do more camera lens shopping instead of spending all my money luxury shopping online! lol

What do you think?

Nouveau Brat dress, Ellysage blazer, Mango belt (similar here), Zara heels, Louis Vuitton bag (similar here), Casio watch

hype this look on lookbook and chictopia!

P.S.

I’m on VINE (and heavily addicted to it)! Follow me (Kryz Uy) if you’re on it!
