My top 5 city breaks

Last weekend I was in Italy for a really lovely weekend visiting my friend, and it made me think about all the city breaks I’ve been lucky to have since I first got on a plane aged 19 (a late bloomer, I know!). This is how I love to travel – nipping off to some amazing cities for a few days and soaking up all the culture. So for this week’s post, I’ve done a little round-up of my top 5 city breaks over the years. Enjoy!

1. Berlin

We gallivanted (is that a real word?) off to Berlin for 4 days right after we got married, so we were still in that dreamy ‘just married’ bliss. Though, that could have been all the wedding cheese. Hmmm. I’d love to go back to Berlin this year and see all the stuff we missed the the first time round. Read more about what we got up to on our Berlin Mini Moon.

2. New York

This was my first ever holiday with my now husband, and the first time I went on a plane! It started off a little shaky (more to come on that in the next installation of the Travel Link-Up) but I ended up having a whale of a time. New York is truly the sort of city you fall in love with and I can’t wait to get back there soon. Here’s why New York made my Top 3 Travel Memories.

3. Barcelona

Oh Spain, I definitely had a little affair with you in Barcelona. You’re extravagant, sunkissed but also a little fiery. Barcelona was my last holiday as an unmarried woman – and what a city to spend that time in! We saw so many amazing buildings, glistening beaches and ate way too much patatas bravas. 4. Lisbon

It was so hot while we were in Lisbon I came back a little sunburnt. That doesn’t usually happen for me in Europe! We stayed in the beautiful village of Praia das Maçãs for a week and took a couple of days trip to Lisbon. We did a lot of walking, ate our weight in pastry and drank a harbour full of cocktails. Get your tastebuds going at my favourite food in Lisbon.

5. Rome

Probably the loudest city break I’ve ever experienced – Rome is a city and a half. It’s big, bright and vibrant. And totally loveable. There’s so much history and art and culture to explore.
