2014 moments

Wow, I blinked at 2014 is almost gone!

I want to take this small moment to thank all of you that visit this space here, this year, and the few of you that have stuck around since 2006 when I started. I never imagined it would turn into this! I love this blog and everything it has become. I get to share and converse with you about books, made in USA stuff, thrifting, and all in an honest and real way. This blog is my voice and my ideas, and I’m lucky to have the freedom to do it this way. So thank you again.

January was a big month, I relaunched the look of my blog, and did it all myself! From the installation to the logo design. But it was also the month I finally compiled a list of Made in USA brands, I still refer to it all the time! This outfit in particular was my favorite of the month.

February was a huge leap in personal things. I left my comfortable job of three years and multiple part time jobs to work at one library full time! It is a huge relief to finally feel so steady and not have to juggle multiple jobs (not to mention the uncertainty of life when you work between 40-70 hours a week!) This outfit below, is still one of my favorites. I need to mend a hole in that top so I can wear it again!

Because of my transition, March was a very short blogging month for me. I worked so hard to make this video for Intel, which I’m super proud of! I only shot two outfit photos that month, I still like the colors of this one. I would just wear it with different shoes.

April was fun, I made my way up to the Walt Disney Museum to see a special exhibit of my favorite Disney artist, Mary Blair. I didn’t disappoint. I also challenged myself to dress outside of my “age appropriate” comfort zone! Pondering if I’m old to wear shorts. The answer is no.

In May, I had the great idea of starting a new book series called Best, Last, Longest – I’m hoping to restart this in 2015! I still love this Texas tuxedo look!

June was a blur -

While July was spent running around trying to take advantage of all the Summer fun things going around all over San Francisco and the Bay Area. I’ll always love these photos taken of me at one of my favorite secret spots

August is my birthday month, and I was also enjoying my new hair! I finally used this new hair color to try a fun temporary dye. If I had a minute to breathe, I would do this again. I also finally rounded up my favorite fashion books in the same place. I often get asked what are my favorite and must have fashion books, now I can point you to this link!

By the time September rolled around, we were losing our outdoor light and I start moving outfit photos back indoors. I really like that I started these window shopping posts to show that you can buy Made in USA at thrift stores AND regular stores too! My favorite outfit of the month? The fact that I was able to find my dream dress that I had been searching for since 2008.

Wasn’t it just October?! I went to two weddings and traveled a lot between Southern and Northern California thus. One awesome trip to Palm Springs, another to Disneyland! This month saw the most posts because I was going crazy with my Halloween posts, I’m still super proud of them and am already plotting ideas for the next one! I also took a leap and finally bought fabric and sewed my first thing ever using a real pattern! I wore it in public, AND people asked me where it was from. It’s an awesome feeling!

October was so crazy, I feel like I spent November recapping it! But November was very special to me because I was able to surprise my family for Thanksgiving, after sadly thinking I wasn’t going to be able to see them. I had a lot to be thankful about. This outfit was very interesting, I’m not sure I would wear this much green together (yes, thinking this, even a few months after it was worn).

And here we are, December! I reviewed and then gave away the Teen Vogue Handbook - it’s at its new home waiting inspire a young teen I also got to see the amazing Keith Haring Exhibit, see it before it goes!

2015 is going to be a great and awesome year! I’ve had some hurdles, just like anyone else, and I want to use my time being productive again (I suffer from Couch Potato-itis). All I need is a jump start. I want to be more mindful. So weird how it takes so long to figure all these things out right? Happy new year my friends.
