A Honeymoon Update

Long time, no see! Grant and I have been keeping very busy on our trip abroad. We spent the first 6 days in England, staying in a town west of London with Grant's dad and step-mom. We went into London 5 out of 6 days. If you've been following me on Instagram you can see we've been keeping quite busy. We went to the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum. We made sure to make some of the obligatory tourist stops at Tower Bridge and St. Paul's. On Wednesday we went to see Bradley Cooper in the stage production of Elephant Man (a trip to London is not complete without a trip to the theatre!). Last Thursday we took a bus out to the Warner Bros studio to tour the Harry Potter studios. It was a total blast and our inner nerds were well pleased. On Friday we saw the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the V&A which was just brilliant. And on Saturday we caught the train from London to Edinburgh - in first class no less.

We spent Saturday evening and all day Sunday exploring Edinburgh. Grant had been as a teenager when he was in Scotland for a pipe band trip. I loved the gothic feel of the city and actually preferred the gloomy and dingy buildings to the power-washed ones in London. Our hostel was right behind the castle and it was great being so central in Old Town.

On Monday we started our Highlands bus tour. It's been fantastic so far - the country is so picturesque that it'd be very difficult not to enjoy yourself here. We spent Monday night in Oban and tonight we're staying in Portree on Isle of Skye. This morning we took the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig and it is an absolute must. Harry Potter fans will recognize the viaduct in the photo below. We finish up the tour on Sunday and on Monday we fly to Iceland to spend 5 days there. My next update will probably be from Reykjavik.

Pure dead brilliant this country is.
