The Ultimate Guide To Hair Removal | Tips, Products and Lady Bits

This is quite a touchy subject with the whole 'women shouldn't feel the need to shave' etc but for me, personally I don't like body hair on myself. I try and avoid it and I'm always trying to find new ways to remove the hair on my body. I've found some products along the way that I couldn't live without now and also things along the way that I'm like 'uhhhm, no thanks'. Today's post is going to be sharing some tips for hair removal on different areas, products I love for it and debunking some hair removal myths!

So I chose not to warn you all with a 'this post is TMI' because if you didn't want to know about what I have to say...you wouldn't be reading this post but just so you know..we will be talking about our lady gardens!!

M Y T H S

#1 Shaving and waxing makes the hair grow back thicker - This is just so not true!
#2 You should squeeze and tweeze out ingrown hairs - NO WAY! Exfoliation is your best friend here!
#3 Shaving is the best way to remove hairs - this is personal preference
#4 You can't use hair removal creams on your bikini line - you can! Veet now do one for the bikini line!

Okay so let's talk about the areas I shave and how often. I shave EVERYTHING. People often look at me like I've just shot them in the arm when I say this. I shave my fingers, mustache, arms, armpits, winny (I'm not quite grown up enough to call it a 'vagina' yet ha!), legs and even my toes (just in case there is hair there, you never know do you!). Ground breaking news guys...I SHAVE MY FACE. I'll speak more in depth about that shortly.
I never have my legs on show and I'm quite lazy with my legs and sometimes will even go a month without shaving them, nobody see's them so who cares! Everything else on my body I shave roughly once a week sometimes even sooner depending upon the hair. My hair grows back fast, but not too fast and since I'm naturally blonde it's not black hair growing back, it's not blonde either but somewhere in the middle!
Let's talk about the winny or whatever other word you like to call it. I do NOT like hair here but I'm quite sensitive to shaving, waxing or creams down there so it's a total pain in the arse. I also find I get a fair few ingrown hairs but when you shave down there, it's pretty normal. To reduce the risk of getting these I exfoliate the area once a week and use a good razor and shaving cream, not soap. I will shave the area totally gone and find I have re growth the next day but due to being so sensitive I'm unable to then re-shave until it's grown abit more (sorry to my non-existant future husband who may or may not read this one day ha!). I find this the most frustrating area to remove hair on my body.

Waxing - I found waxing to be a total pain in the arse. Much better for someone who grows hair back very fast but for me I found it frustrating having to wait until the hair had grown quite alot for the wax to grip. I also found the process very time-consuming. However, once it was done it lasted alot longer than other methods I'm talking about here. I found on average it would last for 2 weeks before I needed to do it again.
Plucking (hear me out!) - Don't ask how I discovered this ha! I came across it watching a video once and on occasion when I have tiny patches of winny re growth then I'll pluck out those hairs. I never do this on any of the sensitive areas I just do this on the bikini area. People always ask 'does this hurt' and I always reply with not really. It's a weird sensation, doesn't hurt as such but gives so much satisfaction ha! This works on small areas with a little re-growth and it just slows down the area growing back.
Shaving - This is my go to and probably the fastest method I use. However, it's the method in which hair re-grows faster. Be prepared for your body hair to grow back fast and depending upon the speed of regrowth you'll have to shave much more often.
Epilation - If your a pain seeker, this is your pal! It's not a major 'ouch!!!' to me it's more the fear of it hurting, that hurts. Does that make sense? Probably not! For those that don't know what epilation is...it's a device that pulls out the hairs on this rotating tool with lots of little teeth pulling out many hairs all at once. This is the longest lasting but probably the most painful!

I've tried alot of products in my time of hair removal so I figured sharing those with you may help some of you out there who are at a bit of a loss of what products to go for, what helps and just to generally show you what I like to use.
Tinkle - What a bloody stupid name for a hair removal product ha! These are so cheap and you can buy them in packs of three for £1.50. I use these to shave my face. There are so many benefits of shaving your face. 1. it removes any peach fuzz you have on your face (I get it on my cheeks). 2. It exfoliates your skin as it removes the dead skin whilst you're shaving. 3. Its beyond easy and leaves your skin feeling super soft. 4. It makes your foundation and make up sit so much better on your face! I usually do this once a week and my god you should see the crap that comes off this razor. You quite literally hold it at an angle and just shave (kinda like a man would). It's worth mentioning these cannot cut you like a standard razor can, it doesn't work like that.
Wilkinson Sword Razors - These are the brand of razor I tend to stick to. I buy two kinds, a decent one and a pack of shitty ones. I use the shitty ones on my tash because you can get right on in there and I use them on my fingers and toes for precision. I use the decent one pretty much everywhere else. It's such a good razor that doesn't cause any sensitivity or irritation yet removes even the smallest of hairs. The Wilkinson Sword Quattro razors are cheap, until you have to replace the heads! For this razor and one head it's only £3.50 then then to buy more heads for it £6 for 3 replacement ones but luckily you don't have to replace them as often! The cheap ones I use are the Wilkinson Sword Disposable Razors and they are £3.50 for a 10 pack. I do throw these away each time I use one but they do the trick each time and they are travel friendly too. I wouldn't put the cheap ones anywhere near your lady garden though!

Rio Total Body Waxing Kit - For £39.99 you expect a fair bit for a device to remove the hair from your body. Luckily you get so much in this kit that when I got it I felt like a little hair removal professional! What you get:
-Wax Heater
-Hard Wax Tablets
-Deluxe Soft Wax
-Heating Pan
-Spatulas
-Paper Remover Strips
-Wax Remover
-Full Instructions and DVD
I think it's pretty safe to say you get everything you need in this kit! It's taught me so much about wax removal and made it really easy for me, before this I found waxing quite intimidating and not really having a bloody clue what I was doing. The hard wax is brilliant for hair on the legs and arms and the soft wax is brilliant for being able to remove hair from pretty much everywhere else. As I said earlier, I find waiting for the hair to grow long enough before removing the hair a very long process that I don't care for.

Body Verde On The Go Razor* - I love how this is good for the planet and also doesn't require water. I'm not even joking when I tell you I carry this beauty around in my handbag! Let me tell you a story about this razor. Not so long ago I landed a last minute job interview and had about 20 minutes to get ready. I'd totally forgotten to shave my armpits and I was looking like Bob Marleys dread locks under there. Then I rememberd this beauty. A pump of the lotion and a few quick swipes with the four blade razor my armpits were good to go. It's so clever and now I keep it in my handbag for any time I'm going out after work and realize I'm hairy in a spot I shouldn't be haha! It's also TSA travel friendly so you'd be able to take this away with you and it's not clogged full of chemicals like most shaving creams and lotions. You know what's even smater? The lotion for this razor is in the other end of the razor. I'm mesmerised by it's awesomeness!

I also use my Babyliss Sonic Cleansing Brush with the body exfoliator to exfoliate my downstairs area. I do NOT use this specific one any other place but I don't like the idea of using an actual exfoliator down there so I use this and water and it really helps me to prevent ingrown hairs and spots and bumps because nobody likes those!

T I P S -If your lady garden is super bush like I'd advice taking some scissors and trimming it to make it easier for the razor to remove the hair. -I always shave my legs with conditioner rather then a shaving foam, such a closer shave. It's one of the best tips I've got! -If your lady garden isn't bush but it's not stubble either then shave with the grain of the hair, going downwards as this will just trim down some of the longer hairs. -If you have forgotten to replace your razor and it's bunged up with hair then with your razor move it in downward motions on a pair of jeans, sorts it right out! -Don't try shaving your winny standing up in the shower, sit on the edge of the bath so you can get abit closer to things and see whats going on down there. -Use a dab of alcohol after shaving your downstairs. It's not the best feeling in the world but closes up the area and can slow down re growth and prevent ingrown hairs. -If you have a dressing table mirror, bring that into the bathroom, place it somewhere that allows you to see exactly whats going on down there for when your shaving the riskier areas of your lady parts.
This is probably one of the longest posts i've ever written but I think it's something that I could offer alot of tips and product reccomendations on. I hope it's helped you discover some new tips or opened up your options for trying new things. I'm not sure what response I'll get from this post but I'm sure I'll find out ha! If you have a hair removal tip then post it down below and help out others who are reading this!
