Natural Homemade Deodorant {That Actually Works}

Now this one I am REALLY in love with! I have been using this recipe since August and could not be happier!

Last summer, I was totally over using the toxic and chemical filled deodorant sitting under my bathroom cabinet. If you do any couponing, you know certain things like toothpaste, soap, and deodorant you should never pay for. You can always stock up using sales and coupons and get those items for free. But at what cost? I like a good deal as much as the next person, but I finally realized saving $1.75 wasn't worth putting these chemicals on our bodies. This recipe costs even less if reuse an old container or my favorite, put it in a glass mason jar and just scoop it out as needed. I bought these empty containers because I knew my husband, Ian, wouldn't be thrilled with having to scoop it and apply by hand like I do. We made these at my April Make and Take Essential Oil party and I figured most people would rather have a handy applicator.

This deodorant has 4 ingredients and they are probably all sitting in your pantry right now! You can definitely make it with just three ingredients and omit the Young Living Essential Oils and it will work well. I just love the addition of the oils though. I use Purification which is a great odor fighter and cleansing oil and is a perfect fit for deodorant. Lavender is also good for the same things and smells awesome too!

This recipe is so easy and I made four at one time and I am sure they will last us for the rest of the year. This recipe will fill one standard deodorant applicators so just increase it as needed if you are making more than one.

1/4 cup baking soda

1/4 cup corn starch

5-6 tablespoons coconut oil

8 drops of your favorite essential oil

Melt the coconut oil and add the baking soda and cornstarch. Mix well and then add your oils. Pour into a deodorant applicator or jar.

THAT IS IT!

I would love to hear about how you are making small choices to live a healthier or more natural lifestyle. I love tips and trying new things.

If you would like to know why I chose Young Living Essential Oils and how they have improved our lives head over to this post. If you have any questions, please just ask!
