We are heading out for an extended summer holiday in Paris, Lisbon, and Porto and that means it’s time to Pack For A Family of five. While we are lovers (and admittedly at times contributors) to the pinterest perfection complex, we thought it would be fun to show you the realities of packing for a family. We’ve learned a thing or two along the way and hope that you can benefit from some of our mistakes.

While we would love to say that packing for a family looks like these top gorgeous images, click the video to see the reality…

Lessons learned::

1. Perfection is unattainable. Relax in the chaos!

2. Leave large items at home. The kids may not like leaving their large stuffed animals (and chainsaws) at home.

3. Bring Tops & Bottoms that Coordinate. You can pack a lot less this way!

4. Do laundry in advance. Warning: Weird outfits may occur the day or two before your trip.

5. Make A pile for each person. It’s really embarrassing when you forget someone’s clothes!

6. Don’t let your husband pack. Need I say more?

7. Take an extra suitcase to bring home souvenirs. (Or to take more shoes!)

8. Have fun and don’t stress. You can always buy something when you arrive if you forget something.

If you have any packing tips for families please add your comments below! Happy Packing!
