Hola from Costa Rica…

I recently escaped the plummeting NYC temperatures for the sun drenched shores of Peninsula Papagayo, on Costa Rica’s Pacific Ocean Coast. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience different forms of paradise, but this country took me by surprise.

While attempting to capture the essence of Dolce&Gabbana’s Light Blue fragrance and its Mediterranean roots, I couldn’t think of anywhere more of an “Escape from reality” than Costa Rica. The fragrance evokes the feeling of a tropical summer; the sea salt from the rugged coastline, the spray from cascading waterfalls and a fresh downpour in the thriving rainforest below an active volcano.

Costa Rica has a saying “Pura Vida” that has a simple English translation “Pure Life”, but a far more profound meaning to the locals. This expression, and many more elements of this beautiful place remind me of the Mediterranean way of life… where the natural beauty of the land, the ocean and a relaxed, happy outlook on life are valued highest. Where would you escape to?
