Girl Lives on Nothing But Ramen Noodles, Doctor Says She Has the Body of an 80-Year-Old

We've all known people who claimed to live off of Ramen noodles in college. Those dry-noodle packets that contain a meat powder and tons of sodium have graced many a college students' table, we're sure. Most people don't survive on nothing but Ramen though . . . most people except Georgi Readman from the Isle of Wight, UK.

Readman fell in love with the salty noodle dish when she tried it for the first time at age five. She has been eating little more than the noodles for over a decade and, at 18, claims she now only eats Ramen.

The teen eats no fresh fruits or vegetables. She claims that the thought of any other food besides Ramen makes her physically ill.
“I hate the texture of fruit and vegetables. I can’t go to my friends' for dinner or go out for meals because I don’t want them to see me freak out if the side salad touches the stuff I eat."
So what happens when you deprive your body of any food other than Ramen noodles? Well, the results aren't good. Readman's doctor says that she is extremely malnourished and has the body of an 80-year-old. She weighs less than 100 pounds at a height of 5' 3''.

Neither Georgi or her mother are concerned about her odd eating habits though. In fact, Georgi's mother purchases the noodles for her daughter, who sometimes even eats them raw.

The average package of Ramen contains over 1600 mg of sodium, 14 grams of fat and only 1.6 grams of fiber. Each package also provides around 400 calories.

To us, Ramen can barely be considered food. It is so highly-processed that the sodium content of one package is more than the daily recommended intake for adults. Considering Readman is eating three to six packages a day, you can only imagine the havoc that sodium is wreaking on her body.

Too many times, people are concerned with fast, cheap and easy when it comes to food. Most people won't go to the extreme of only eating Ramen, but there are many people who live mainly on processed foods.

Sure, it's hard to get away from all processed foods, but you can make the majority of your meals as fresh as possible. Even if you just add a salad to every meal, that's a good way to add more nutrients and fiber to your diet.

We sincerely hope that Georgi will make an attempt to break out of her Ramen habit. She is wrecking her health over an addiction to noodles, which just seems silly and tragic. No food is worth your health. And anyway, if you are going to kill yourself with food, let's hope it would be with something better than 65-cent dry, salty noodles. No thanks!
