Our Weekend...

I got off of work early Friday, so it was nice to squeeze in some extra family time. Right now there are a lot of tea parties going on in this house, so that's where you'll usually find us playing.
Harper has gone through a language explosion recently, so it has been even more fun to play because there's so much back-and-forth. She talks constantly and even started to say some expressions like "I see you" and "I sit" (or run or march or walk), "bless you," "thank you," and "I love you" (and so many more)! It's so exciting seeing her be so vocal. Her daycare teachers even told me she has started to talk more there and she tends to be more shy at daycare, so that's a big deal.

Our daycare was closed for the last two weeks for the holidays (they follow HISD's schedule), so this upcoming week will be all about getting back into our normal routine.

But don't get too excited--- with all of this new language also comes a lot of tantrums. They are brutal some days and everyone keeps telling me they continue to get even worse. Wheeee!

Harper has spent a lot of time with Kevin because he gets more time off during the holidays and she is all about him now. She even requested to hold his hand on our walk. Sweetest girl.
Off topic, but I posted on IG about booking a hair appointment and how it's always the day you book a hair appointment that you have the best hair day. I swear it happens every.time. I have a Pinterest board of hair cuts and colors I love, you can check that out here if you're looking for inspiration! Below are a few of my favorite long layer looks--- obviously I'm a big fan of Olivia Palermo!
I styled my hair like this on second-day hair using a regular hot tools curling iron (this one or this one). Then, I just ran my fingers through the ends to break up the curls a bit.
On Sunday I shared this photo that I took after sleeping with my hair in a topknot and brushing out the curls and adding Frederick Fekkai glossing creme (buy here). You can check out a video I filmed several months ago on my YouTube channel of how I make my curls last and how I style slept-on hair,
here. I post this disclaimer every time, but it really depends on your hair type whether or not this will work for you. I've had several readers send me feedback that it helped simplify their hair routines so that was great to hear!
Okay, back to our weekend--- we met up with friends at the Children's Museum again this week because it was just gloomy and cold outside and there wasn't much else to do and we needed to get out of the house. Harper and Cami had a blast, as usual.
Saturday night I cleaned our kitchen and relaxed. I have SO much cleaning and organizing to do in this house that I'm just taking it space-by-space because it's overwhelming. I will also be selling more from my closet--- including some items that were left over after three bags went to the Salvation Army. I think I'm going to sell them in IG, since I've seen a lot of other bloggers do that and it seems so much easier to list items at random than to have one big blog sale.

Our Sunday was laid-back and we enjoyed a play date with our friends and their daughter. It was too sweet when they sat at the little table together and shared Cheerios (or sometimes refused to share…ahem, Harper).
(sometimes, she eats Cheerios with a spoon...)
During nap time I headed to Marshall's Home Goods because after Christmas my goal was to organize the living room/play area. I needed more baskets that would better suit our storage needs. And of course, I snapped a quick outfit photo:
sweatshirt- madewell | tights- lululemon | scarf- aritzia (on sale!) | boots- UGG | sunglasses- amazon
I ended up purchasing one large and long basket (the gray and white one) below and two silver baskets. I plan on doing an entire post about our living room/play area and how we clean and organize it since I know a lot of you are in the same boat with not having a dedicated playspace seperate from your main living space. One day, we hope to have a larger home with a dedicated play room, but even then, I know most of it trickles into the living room so it's essential to have good storage. I like baskets because they're easy to use for clean-up and they look cute. Plus, if you ever want to switch them out, they can always be used in another room of your home or ever as drawer organizers. You can't go wrong!
When Harper woke up from her nap, we went on another walk in her little push car and it was sunny so she wore her sunglasses (buy them here)…which she then wanted on inside too. Then she asked me to help put her Santa hat on, and hilariousness ensued. She cracks us up.
(have Santa hat, will travel…)
Keeping with the Santa theme, she still wants to read books about Santa. Every time she sees Santa anywhere she says "HO HO HO merrryyyyyyy" and then some random word that sounds nothing like Christmas, but is meant to, lol.

Hope your weekend was great and that 2015 is off to an incredible start!
