Our Weekend...

This Saturday, I had the honor of co-hosting a baby sprinkle for my friend Amanda as we anticipate the arrival of her sweet baby boy!

Before gearing up for the day and running a ton of pre-party errands, I enjoyed a latte and it was made that much more fun with this sweet hand-stamped spoon from Jessica N Designs. I also have the tea spoon and they're adorable and make for a cute, inexpensive gift that's actually useful.
We held the party in Brittany's home, decorating the party area in mint green, coral/peach, navy and gold (baby boy's nursery colors). Amanda is working on a quilt with these colors and I can't wait to see it completed!

The sprinkle took up most of my afternoon, so after I got home we took Harper to the park to work off some energy before sleep time.

This morning, Kevin asked me if I wanted him to get us Starbucks coffee and breakfast sandwiches and I reminded him that we had a play date at nine that we were bringing coffee to. On the way over, he suggested we also pick up donuts and kolaches from Hugs & Donuts and there was no way I was saying no to that.

These donuts are almost too pretty to eat, but I assure you, they were consumed with reckless abandon (okay, not all of them, because even four adults tackling these in one sitting is a little intense). Their kolaches were also incredibly delicious and flavorful. Highly recommend if you're in Houston!
The girls played and we enjoyed some time relaxing on our friend's new front porch swing. It made me want both a front porch and a swing. I could have seriously sat there for hours.
The girls happened to wear matching lilac sandals. They're adorable, completely adjustable and easy to put on and take off. You can buy them here or here.
After nap time, we attended Texas Children's Ambassador's Family Fun Day at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center. The event had a safari theme this year and as always, it was awesome and the food was amazing. They always have such a wide variety of activities for kids of all ages and a petting zoo, pony rides, arts and crafts, etc. The perfect day for toddlers and kids.
Harper was obsessed with this zebra. She kept saying "hi zebra" but would not go near it. Eventually I convinced her to wave at the zebra and once I went up and high-five'd the zebra, she wanted to do the same.

We also played some music...
…and ate some delicious food (over which she had an absolute meltdown when I tried to get us a tray of food to share…apparently she does NOT want to share her tray with anyone).
The best part by far was the petting zoo. Oh my goodness this girl was all over that petting zoo and she kept bending over and pursing her lips and making kissing noises trying to show the animals how much she loved them. I don't think the feeling was ever reciprocated, but try she did and it was adorable. She was really gentle and even invited me in to join her for the fun. She also tried to walk a goat like a dog, but that's a story for another day.
She was scared of the pony. Would wave, but refused to touch it.
As she walked the goat, she kept saying "it's eating, it's eating." I swear she wanted to make sure no one interrupted that poor goat as he (or she) grazed. How considerate.
The day ended with a trackless train ride to the shuttle bus and off we went home, bellies full of delicious food, mosquito bites a' plenty and tired from lots of walking.
I hope you had a happy weekend!
