Q&A: 1940s Men’s Reproduction Clothing

Question: I have had several requests this week for finding 1940s reproduction men’s clothing that is either ready made or custom made to measure.
Answer: A while back I published a big list of men’s vintage, reproduction and vintage inspired clothing brands. I have been steadily adding to the list as I discover new online shops just for men. The list includes clothing from 1900-1960 styles. Most of the best sources for 1940s clothing (including women’s) are in Europe, not the USA, so be prepared to spend a bit more on shipping. A few of my favorites for 1940s men’s reproduction clothing are:

1940s Swing Dance Pants from OntheSunnySide
On the Sunny Side (NL) – Menswear handmade from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Pants, vests and bow ties.
ReVampVintage.com – 1940s men’s reproduction shirts, pants and jackets. High quality, limited runs means your look will be unique.
ZootSuitStore.com- A mega warehouse of men’s classic style suits in San Francisco but they also ship worldwide. They have a wide range for Stacy Adams suits which always make great modern Zoot Suits among other brands.
Carol Nolan- The source for men’s repro zoot suits. She also makes 1915-1940s suits, pants, and vests all custom made for you.
ReMix Vintage – Men’s quality shoes in mostly 40s and 50s styles.
Harr Shoes (DE/UK)- Historical shoes maker for theater and the general public. Very fine footwear of all time periods.
