Let’s Ditch the Leggings and start wearing the Pants in Fashion

It has been two weeks since I posted anything and it was not intentionally. I have had the most busiest but refreshing two weeks ever! During that time I was also busy thinking of fashion ideas and planning ways to make my ideas happen. I could just put up anything and be done with it but that’s not my style and to put out low quality work is way beneath me. So I decided to just wait and decide. We just celebrated St. Patrick’s day here and it is a must do if you ever decide to visit Savannah Georgia! oh! I had so much fun with my in laws and seeing all that green made me want to plant a garden of some sort! I had pictures that I wanted to post but since they were on my husbands camera I have no clue how to download them. Sometimes I think men do stuff like that on purpose… it must be a territorial thing. LOL! I do have lots to talk about but sometimes I feel like its already been discussed somewhere else the same way I have it it my mind. This leaves me wondering how can I do something different. Than I decided that since it is a fairly new blog and I don’t have a lot of my photos that I actually own to display. I am going to include a photo of myself in every post that I write. Its not going to be a professional one it will just be pictures I take personally of myself. I am working on designing some new clothing pieces but I have to go into storage to pull out the items that I want to redesign and that will require a whole weekend for me to even start to look for the totes that my clothes are stored in. And that is another process. I did however want to bring up the topic of leggings. Women of double digit-size what is going on with this docile and quiet leg wear?

I remember seeing these in the 80’s and I just don’t remember seeing them worn like they are now. As I do recall they were not worn as pants but as a complimentary statement that was worn under something! So my fashionable friends I wonder why the idea of wearing something that is in the same category as an undergarment is deemed fashionably correct to wear as the main focal point of the outfit? I mean seriously how do you wake up out of the bed and decide that this is ok to wear? Is it the fact that they actually have something you consider pants that fit the way you feel pants should? WRONG! THESE ARE NOT PANTS! Is the fact that you feel so good and confident about yourself While standing in your mirror that you don’t care what others think even though you are forcefully making people look at all your wobbly parts and contoured goodies? WRONG! REALITY HITS HARD AND BY THE TIME YOU REALIZE IT’S TOO LATE TO SEE THAT THESE ARE NOT PANTS! Listen I could go on and on about why leggings should not be thought of as pants, but at the end of the day you know, we know heck even the people who invented them knows that THESE ARE NOT PANTS! So lets come to the realization that leggings are not to be worn as pants and it does not matter how big or small or how toned or muscular you are PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Stop wearing these the wrong way. If its because your pants aren’t fitting anymore than do something better about it other than humiliating yourself and getting appalling looks from people. I can’t tell you how many women I have seen that have asked me did I like the look that they put together and because I am plus size they feel like we have something in common when it comes to fashion, and since leggings seem to be the “go to garment” for most, they come to me with the short shirts and sheer leggings and want me to give them a thumbs up on their ensembles. Well being the professional that I am I quietly do the opposite. Hey I believe in representing in the highest and if I wouldn’t wear it I certainly would not condone it. Women of size we have got to do better because believe it or not all eyes are on us after all we have the most to look at. So why not give them something positive to talk about in fashion? If we continue to represent in a positive way in fashion this will open up so many opportunities for clothing and more campaigns and photo shoots! We could make a statement that would be in every magazine! Just because we are of size does not mean we have to gain attention by any means necessary.
