The One Bracelet to Rule Them All

After Christmas this year, I found myself searching for cool things to make out of all the empty wrapping paper rolls I had lying around (weekly reminder to myself that I should probably stop being such a hoarder). Then after my annual marathon of all the Lord of the Rings movies, I had an idea. The empty rolls could really easily become bangle bracelets. And what would be a more powerful bracelet than a larger recreation of The One Ring? It’s super easy, so you could even make a bunch of them and use them as favors at a party or something. Just try not to turn into Gollum, Okay?

DIY Lord of the Rings Bracelet – what you need:

  • empty wrapping paper/paper towel tube
  • scissors
  • gold spray paint
  • sharpie marker

Step 1: Cut the tube

To make the actual structure of the bracelet, you’ll need to cut off a small section of the cardboard tube. Just use some scissors or a knife to cut off about a 3/4 inch section of the tube. You’ll probably also need to cut open the circle so that it can actually fit around a wrist.

Step 2: Spray it gold

When you have the basic shape cut out, it’s time to paint it gold. Just take it outside and spray around the entire bracelet, inside and outside, with gold spray paint.

Step 3: Add the lettering

Once the gold paint is dry, use a black sharpie or marker to add the details. I just pulled up a picture of the ring and tried to re-create it by hand. You might have more luck printing out a template or something. But it was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.
