Vintage And Rustic Wedding in New York

Gathering all of the elements for you wedding day can be a major headache. So why not use as many of the things that you and your honey have around your home! Kayleigh and Jason’s vintage and rustic wedding in New York was filled with family heirlooms and heartfelt DIY’s that they incorporated back into their home! Genius!

This beautiful day and all its details were captured by the talented Ashley Caroline photography! You can see even more when you visit the full gallery here.

Family Treasures & Wedding Decor

From the Bride: While planning, we focused on doing it ourselves as much as possible and using old antiques from our families. We concentrated on the details, such as our place cards. Every key was a treasure Jason’s Great Uncle had saved. Every book came from a collection. Even most of the cameras were beauties we had been given from our families.

Wedding Details Turned Home Decor

Jason’s father built the arch by hand and is now a centerpiece in the garden. The J&K moss letters were wood letters Jason nailed to a piece of wood that I then covered in moss. They now sit perfectly on a shelf in our living room. Doing it ourselves allowed us to take our wedding home with us.

Centerpiece Stress

To save money, we opted to put the centerpieces together ourselves. Looking back, I would have never made my own centerpieces. It took hours trying to make the perfect bouquets in each mason jar and wine bottle. I would have rather paid our florist to handle all our flower needs than to cause us both stress and time.

Write Down Your Memories

As for other advice, one of my bridesmaids actually recommended this. She said at the end of your wedding night, write down your favorite memories from your day. She said the day will become a blur and you will forget things you wish you didn’t. Once my husband and I arrived in Hawaii, we each took the time to write down our favorite moments and we are so happy we did.
