FUEL CRISIS OVER AS GOVERNMENT, FUEL IMPORTERS SETTLE RIFT

The petroleum crisis in Nigeria is over. The federal government and all aggrieved stakeholders in the oil and gas sectors have reached an agreement after a meeting on Monday. Senator Magnus Abe, who read a communiqué after a public hearing on the crisis in the sector, organised by the Joint Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream and Downstream), said all aggrieved unions have agreed to end the dispute in the nation’s interest.

MONAN, PENGASSAN and NUPENG have all agreed to return to work immediately. “We have agreed on the following: first is that the Minister of Finance will give an undertaking to the Major Marketers and Depot Managers that the work of the committee being headed by CBN and PPPR, on the outstanding claims, would be concluded and be reflected in the hand over notes to the incoming administration,” he said.
The Major Oil Markers Association Nigeria (MONAN) said its members will begin the distribution of petroleum products immediately.
