The Science Sartorial

Happy Friday one and all! As a special treat here is a picture of me looking winsome in the rain. Classic blogger.

This week I am thrilled to featured over on Olya’s blog Lunarka’s Treasure Box as part of her ‘Stylish Scientists’ series. You can read the full interview here. Olya is herself a scientist, currently studying genetics, living in New York and using her blog as means to escape the laboratory confines every now and again. Sounds a lot like me! Olya has featured some fantastic women in her Stylish Scientists series, and I thoroughly recommend giving the rest of Lunarka’s Treasure Box a read as well, perhaps tucked up in bed on a Saturday morning with a plate of toast.

I’m having a day off today, to enjoy some much needed post-conference R&R. And also to get started on a dressmaking project that I have been planning all week. I mentioned Burda Style magazine in my last post, and today I am going to put my sewing machine where my mouth is (figuratively speaking, I do not advocate biting chunks out of sewing machines) and try to make something. Actually, this sudden dressmaking zeal can be partly blamed on Olya too. She asked me lots of questions about making my own clothes, and I suddenly realised that I hadn’t fired up my sewing skills in anger for some time, other than to sew on buttons and repair hems. So watch this space, and keep those digits crossed for me. I’ve got pinking shears, and I’m not afraid to use them.

I’m going to digress here and (briefly) talk about racing – the Korean Grand Prix is this weekend! Actually I am getting a little fed up with Sebastian Vettel winning everything, but now it emerges that Red Bull might be doing some cheeky (but very clever) cheating, perhaps the playing field will be levelled slightly for the last six races. So unlikely. Well done Sherin! Your boy has done it again.

Have a lovely weekend one and all. xx
