Second Condo Project Is Finally Done! – Part 2
Tadaaaa!!! The final pictures are here! This post is loaded with photos just because I love this unit. I wish it were mine though. I was almost tempted to hang our family picture on the wall and add some personal artsy stuff on the shelves. Haha!
Welcome to Jan and Hazel Oriel’s home! Let’s start with my favorite area, the kitchen.
So basically, the bar counter was built for 1.) extra storage (cabinet at the back) 2.) to increase seating capacity (up to four more including the pullout table extension at the back) and 3.) to limit the little explorers’ access to kitchen where the stove is of course!
To hide the breaker door at the left, I hung an 18″x24″ frame and downloaded the free vintage Led Zeppelin poster here, Jan’s choice).
I wish I have a flash though (not the built-in one) so I could take better and brighter interior photos. You can barely see the lovely blue-green color of the bar counter. It is actually the same color as the inside of the cabinet doors and the living area wall.
This is the back of the bar counter where you can extend the table. (It was already past 6pm and my tummy was rumbling already. This giant Skippy was good enough. I prefer wheat bread with my PB sandwich though. Haha! Thanks for the snack, Joy!)
As I’ve mentioned in my earlier post, the owners didn’t have the budget and time to have all the cabinets replaced so I opted to have the back of the glass painted instead!
TIP: If you’re not exactly an OC kind of person and you have frosted glass kitchen cabinets, you may want to paint the back of the glass with pretty color (not white and definitely not black or brown) to hide the clutter. Because even if it is frosted, whatever you have there still shows through it!
Originally, I wanted subway tiles for the kitchen backsplash, but I found this white 30x30cm ceramic tiles at Floor Center for just P23/pc and I fell in love with it. It sure does look nice with the glossy, back granite tiles!
Yes, there is no coffee table in the living room so Gavin, their 20-month old son, can move around the space freely. And since there are no other furniture in the living area, I thought they deserve a long sofa (it’s actually a sofa bed.) The rest can seat on the plush rug. Haha!
Instead of bringing in a buffet table, why not maximize the storage space by building a floor to ceiling pantry? Again, extra storage, hah! and my signature paneled mirror wall. I forgot to take a photo of the built-in dining seat which also has storage under the cushion.
Oh, the dining table is custom built too. Love the solid wood top!
And here are a few shots from the kids bedroom! I got that fire engine red lamp during Mandaue Foam’s sale last April.
My new 50mm prime lens is not exactly good for taking interior photos. But for detail shots like these, love! Nyahar!
This room is really, really tiny so here’s panoramic shot from my husband’s Galaxy Tab so you can have an idea on how the room generally looks.
Lastly, the master bedroom!
Those humongous ceiling beams are design culprits so instead of fighting and trying to conceal them, I decided to just incorporate them in the design. Don’t they look kinda like puzzles? Hehe!
For this bedroom, I tried having a theme which is travel but I don’t want to go overboard by having a mural map on the wall or a collection of Eiffel towers on the shelf. I think this is a subtle way to do it–using double purpose decors with travel theme like this box from SM Department Store, a single throw pillow and the chest that serves as side table as well.
TIP: Hide your little stuff that creates clutter in the shelves by placing them in decorative boxes. Trust me, you can never have too many of these boxes in your house. The wide mouth vases can hide your clutter as well. :)
This is my favorite shot and my favorite item, chest from HEIM (Wilcon Depot)! The lamp is from Mandaue Foam too.
I only have one panoramic shot of this side and it’s not even that good. But at least you have an idea on how the entire room looks. Ooops, clutter by the balcony! I had to take the stand fan and the air cooler out because they were so not photogenic at all!
