My Royal Closet: Meet Faye!

Welcome to My Royal Closet! Each month, take a look into a different closet that has been royally-inspired by Kate. The Duchess of Cambridge has been a huge influence on our closets, and we want to share our favorite repliKates and outfits with you!

Faye shows off her lovely Merci Maman necklace – one of her many repliKates!

Meet Faye: My name is Faye, I’m from Liverpool and I am currently studying Biology at a local university. On the day of the Royal wedding I went to my Nan’s house where she was watching the ceremony herself. Several family members came and went but all made the same comment along the lines of “Faye, you’re just like Kate with longer hair!” (My hair is now six inches shorter!) From that day onwards I have become a great fan of the Duchess and I really enjoy looking for Repli-Kates and try to imagine Kate wearing the items I buy. I also have my own pages dedicated to Kate on Instagram and Facebook which I regularly update. Say hi to Faye on Instagram and Facebook!

L.K.Bennett Stila

L.K.Bennett is my favourite brand of all time worn by Kate. The pieces worn are so classic and elegant, including her Sledge shoes! It didn’t take long for me to decide that this had to be my first Repli-Kate, Kate is hardly seen without these shoes! I decided however to purchase the ‘Stila’ in-store and not the ‘Sledge’ as Kate’s style has a slightly higher heel. These shoes fit like a glove (with me being a UK size 2 it is very difficult for me to find a well-fitting shoe) and they are so comfortable! They can be paired with almost any outfit due to the neutral taupe colour and they are my go-to shoe as they are Kate’s!

Somerset by Alice Temperley Boat print Top

Alice Temperley is also a favourite brand of mine. When Kate wore the Boat print dress during her visit to Portsmouth, I fell in love with the piece instantly! The following weekend I went shopping in my local John Lewis store and came across the Somerset range in store. I fell in love with the top just as I had the dress! I decided to purchase the top as I would be able to wear it on several occasions, dressed up or dressed down. It is perfect as the piece gives a little nod to the dress that Kate wore however gives me a sense of still having my own sense of style. (Note: I have my Merci Maman necklace on here – another Repli-Kate!

Sebago ‘Bala’ Boat Shoes

I have always loved boat shoes so when I knew Kate also had a pair I had to have the same ones! I decided to purchase them online in navy instead of the taupe as previous boat shoes I have had in navy are very versatile. At the time of purchase, the shoes were reduced by 50% which was great! These shoes are so comfortable and it is easy to walk with them on in the warm weather! I pair these in very similar ways Kate does – with jeans and a t-shirt for a casual look.

Miss Selfridge Crepe Tulip Dress

I followed the Australia/New Zealand tour very closely in April 2014 and I fell in love with the yellow Roksanda Ilincic dress Kate wore when arriving in Australia. I instantly began my mission to find a convincing but affordable Repli-Kate and after a while I found this dress! The neckline is different and the dress does not feature the white sections that are on Kate’s dress, however the general look of the dress is the same as Kate’s. The dress was priced at a reasonable £39 which I was pleased with and I wore this dress quite often receiving many compliments! This dress can be worn casually or to an event too which is great.

Miss Selfridge Coats (Pale Pink Double Breasted Fit and Flare & Pale Blue Crepe Duster Coat)

I love all of Kate’s coats so I decided to find some Repli-Kates, again convincing but hopefully affordable. I found two coats and I could not choose between them so I purchased both! The pale pink Double Breasted Fit and Flare coat is VERY pale pink, in-fact online the coat is described as being ‘cream’ however I disagree with this description. The coat fits wonderfully and this is something I feel Kate would definitely wear (Editor’s note: It looks JUST like the many ivory coats Kate wore during pregnancy – Max Mara, Jojo Maman Bebe, etc!). It is the most formal out of the two as this coat is best suited with dresses and heeled shoes. The pale blue Crepe Duster Coat is a beautiful colour and I feel that it slightly resembles the Matthew Williamson coat which Kate wore to visit the Valero Oil Refinery. What I love about this coat is that it can be worn formally but also casually during the daytime.
