Wedged between style!

What's the best shoe to wear without compromising style and comfort? The wedge heel! It has a thick distinctive one piece sole whereas high heels have a separate sole. Wedge heels have different heights and can range from very low and conservative heels to Lady Gaga crazy heels. These one of a kind shoes have been around since the 1930s. Back then, the wedge didn't have such a distinct heel and had cellophane straps.

Italian designer, Salvatore Ferragamo, created the wedge in 1935. The first wedge was an orthopedic wedge and later progressed into the wedge heel. He used cork and wood in his designs because there was a shortage of leather and rubber. During WWII, the wedge heel became popular because leather and other materials were needed for the war. The wedge heel was colorful and loud in the 1970s and the wedge sneaker became trendy in the 1990s.

Today, you can find the perfect pair because there are many different styles to choose from. What we love most about these shoes is that they can transition easily from day to night and season to season. They look great with a casual pair of shorts or dressy with a summer dress. Here are a few that we are currently crushing on... because they do change from time to time :)
