Oakwood Homes Event

When you’re building a home, there are a million things to consider– budget, style, location, and the list goes on and on and on. I tend to lean toward custom building because I like more control over the design and finishing products. Often times builders work within only a few options for floorpans, a few options for lighting, a few options for carpeting– you get the idea.

Jon and I were recently invited to an event at the new Oakwood Homes showroom in Murray, Utah where we not only enjoyed an evening out together (felt like a date night!) and a beautifully catered meal courtesy of Whole Foods, but we were able to tour the massive showroom and learn more about Oakwood.

Oakwood recently acquired another home builder (Henry Walker Homes) and I’ve gotta tell ya, I was blown away by the quality and different options available at the showroom. Gorgeous lighting options. A huge section of carpet and flooring options. A whole room just for kitchen cabinet and sink options. And the tile. The tile!

It was packed full of options I would absolutely put in my own home, or the home of my clients (and in some cases, I have already used or plan to use many of the options on projects). It was absolutely the biggest/nicest builder showroom I’ve visited. And folks, I’ve been to a lot.

If you don’t have your own designer, they have some on staff to help guide you through the design process. Jon and I put together an imaginary kitchen using all of the products.

We dined with the darling Oh Sweet Basil and her husband. Talk about good company.

Whole Foods shared a cooking demo in the Grotto style kitchen. Sounds all swanky, if you catch my drift, but really it was kind of like a large dome-ish area over the sink. Pretty cool.

From now through March 31, Oakwood is running a promo. If you purchase a new home, you get the kitchen grotto or a spa shower as a free upgrade.

If you’re not wanting to go the custom home route, but still want to build, this is a really great builder to consider.

Thank you to Oakwood and Whole Foods for hosting a fun evening!
