OPI Frozen Cherry Blossoms Nail Art

Hey there! It’s been swatchfest 2014 at WPP (I have a huge backlog of collections to get to you next week!) and I needed some nail art in my life. I was curious about how to use a fan brush. I have one…I’ve just never used it. So I came upon

this video by Robin Moses. She’s so amazing with acrylic paint! She used a fan brush to put a wash of color over a white base. As I watched her finish her pink and red cherry blossom design, I got the idea to do a similar look with frosty whites and blues instead. And so this “frozen” version was born. I love how this turned out. Yet I’m bummed that my pics don’t show it very well. All of the OPI polishes I used have a shimmery sheen to them. The light reflecting off my nails obscured the design in many of my photos. There’s actually quite a bit of detail. Anyway, you’ll just have to trust me!

The polishes I used in this look are:

• OPI Angel with a Leadfoot: Opaque white creme from the Ford Mustang Collection
• OPI Ski Slope Sweetie: Golden, shimmery white from the Mariah Carey 2013 Holiday Collection
• OPI Tiffany Case: Icy blue Liquid Sand texture from the Bond Girls Collection
• OPI Teal the Cows Come Home: Teal blue shimmer from the 2012 Brights Collection
• OPI Queen of the Road: Black-brown with the slightest shimmer from the Ford Mustang Collection

My base is two coats of Angel with a Leadfoot and one coat of Ski Slope Sweetie. I mixed one part Teal the Cows Come Home and one part Ski Slope Sweetie to create the “wash” of blue. This softened the teal and added more shimmer. Then I used my fan brush to lightly pull my mixture over one corner of each nail. For the trees, I used a small nail art brush and Queen of the Road to freehand branches. You can’t see it in my pic, but I dabbed a solid silver polish on the tops of each branch (for snow). At this point, I coated everything with topcoat. The last step was to add the frozen berries. I used my nail art brush to dab Tiffany Case over the branches. I love how the Liquid Sand gives the look some texture.

I didn’t want to take this off. It was so much more glisten-y in real life! And super easy too. :)
