You know as well as I do that a good night of rest can work wonders for the body. Be sure to get an early night before your flight and drink plenty of water on your day of travel. If you’re a coffee or tea drinker, don’t leave home without your morning dose or grab a quick one to go at the airport. Be sure to stick to normal routine as much as possible instead of leaving everything ‘til the last minute and being in such a rush that you forget the bare essentials. Good sleep, plenty of water and a good hearty breakfast will be the fresh start your body needs.
I find this style tip to be a little hard to stick to sometimes – so don’t feel obliged to stick to it at all times! If you feel like getting dolled up for the day, go for it. But generally speaking you will find you feel much more comfortable and fresh if you keep your makeup simple when you travel. I find myself feeling much more comfortable with a BB Cream as a base and a touch of mascara to keep my eyes looking bright and awake. Anything more is time consuming – time that can be spent exploring!
The trick to looking good is feeling good. If you don’t feel comfortable wearing tight clothes (all power to those who do!), a great trick is to always wear loose fitting clothes, especially when you travel. I’ll be the first to admit I over indulge when travelling – I like to try everything and anything when it comes to food – so I’m much more comfortable in a loose fitting t-shirt than a restricting blouse. I gotta fit more sweets in somewhere!
There are a few things you should keep on you at all times to keep yourself feeling fresh, stylish, and most importantly, comfortable. Things to pack in your handbag that will always come in hand: moisturiser, concealer, mascara, lip balm, and a scarf. A scarf can come in SO handy at the most unexpected times – it can dress up an otherwise plain outfit or double as an aid in keeping warm.
Forget what they told you about ‘the new black’. Black is always the new black. There’s no better way to look effortlessly chic and stylish than to wear black. On travel days this is the colour to stick to, especially if you’re travelling long-haul and want to avoid spillages on neutral tones or crinkly clothes. Black hides everything – it’s the best weapon you have!
