Breakfast with Weetabix Protein

When Bill started weaning, one of the first breakfasts we used to give him was Weetabix with warm milk. And the smell of it takes me right back to those days, as well as days of my own childhood, where my own mum would make me a bowl for breakfast, on a cold day. And sometimes, if I was lucky, I’d get a tiny dusting of sugar on top as a treat.
I think most parents have memories of Weetabix. It’s such a standard breakfast in our house. We always have a pack in the cupboard and it’s something that Bill will regularly request at the weekend. He can eat two, or even three these days. And obviously, if you’re having a lazy morning, you can make Weetabuddies with them too. Which are a brilliant way of pimping out your Weetabix, and getting some extra fruit into your little ones too.

Now I’m pregnant - I’m 35 weeks now - I have to make sure I am keeping my energy up and eating the right things too. I have a tendency to crave sweet things, so I’ve been turning to fruit when I can, to avoid piling on extra pounds, and to stay healthy too. I also find that I need a bit more energy these days. And by the time I get to work I am so hungry and already feeling like I’m running low.
So when Weetabix asked me to try out their new cereal - Weetabix Protein - I was more than happy to. Not only is regular Weetabix a staple in our house anyway, Weetabix protein is specially developed with high quality wheat protein, and is packed with 62% of carbohydrate, which provides energy to the body. It essentially keeps the whole family going all morning. Whether that’s me getting until lunchtime and not feeling tired, or like I want to snack on biscuits. Or preparing Bill for a busy and fun day at nursery.

I’m going to be trialling Weetabix protein for the next few weeks, and I’ll be sharing how I’ve been eating it, along with some more details about the health benefits of Protein too, if you’re interested.
As someone who has previously lost over three stone, I love high-protein products at they keep hunger at bay, which is great when you are trying to lose weight, and at the same time, this gives you lots of healthy nutrients too. It’s high in fibre, low in sugar, salt and fat and fortified with iron and vitamins, as well as the added protein hit! I’ll definitely be relying on breakfasts like this when I’m trying to stay healthy when breastfeeding and losing any extra baby weight.
If you’re curious, Weetabix Protein is now available in major supermarkets at the cost of £2.99 for 24 Weetabix.
Let me know if you try it - and how you have yours!
