copenhagen fashion week faves – part one

Copenhagen Fashion Week is over – man, what a fantastic week! I am completely smashed, but very happy at the same time. Over the next few days I will post my personal fashion week show highlights. I started the show-days at Asger Juel Larsen, who sent his models down the catwalk in the beautiful halls of famous lux hotel d’Angleterre. Honestly, last season I wasn’t crazy about the look. Too much punk and too much retro. This season was completely different. While Asgers signature style was very visible in printed pieces and bold use of red and gold, my faves were the more toned down looks in black and dusty greens with clear army-references in long coats, wide collars and double-breasted outerwear. Wide pants and classic Dr. Martens fished the look perfectly.

The Mads Nørgaard show had a fresh approach to its own designs, calling a spade for a spade and highlighting that Nørgaard makes everyday clothes for everyday people. So the catwalk, which was bathed in pink lights, showed a mix of models and real (cool) people. Another cool detail were live tunes by Communions. Also it seemed to be the day of Dr. Martens as they hit this catwalk as well. All in all cool, wearable clothes for everyone with a relaxed vibe, references to Saint Laurent (middle look above), and 90210 hair on the models. What’s not to like?

The most amazing show experience this week was without a doubt at Sand. The designer couple had invited 62 hand picked guests into their own (stunning) home, were oysters and champagne were served before a show that had the most amazing (expensive) model cast. Even though I had a hard time focusing on the clothes in such an amazing setting, I did notice some Sand goodies. The overall style was convincing with the seasons popular 70s references combined with a good portion of the brands lux take on everything. Besides the perfectly cropped, slim trousers, coats and cool double-breasted blazers I really enjoyed the details. Notice the pins on the suit jackets, the slightly rolled up sleeve at the wrist (as seen on the Prada catwalk some weeks ago) and the loose ties. Amazeballs.

Day one ended with a Copenhagen Fashion Week classic, Henrik Vibskov. As always it was okay to wait for the show to start (and freeze a bit while doing so), as there were served cans of beer and the colourful collection made up for it. You probably know the signature Vibskov style already, so I will not go into detail with that. Yet again there were some cool, round silhouettes and badass pants (I mean look at the pictures above) as well as the designers always-prominent prints. However, there were some more classy looks as well (imagine the sailor look above without the hat) and some strong suiting with wide pants. On my wishlist already! Stay tuned for more show highlights soon. .
