Hola Mexico ……… Cancun First Impression

So my husband decided we should go to Mexico over a week ago, neither of us have ever been here and we’ve both wanted to go. So he bought the tickets and we were off just like that. We dropped Henry (our dog) at my husbands mother and a couple hours later we were in Mexico talking about sports with Luis one of our waiters who soon became our BFF. We arrived at midday exhausted as we had been up since 3am that morning and both had work the day before. We arrived checked into our room and went to get sushi at one of the many restaurants at the hotel.

I have never actually thought about what Cancun would look like, but as soon as we got into our taxi and began the drive to the airport I was surprised to notice how very similar it was to my homeland Jamaica. The drive from the airport to the hotel with the trees and fresh fruit stands and the ocean right beside us, I felt like I was home. I loved that the locals who seemed to be on lunch, construction workers Male and female were eating their lunches on the grass areas under the trees. It all seemed so right, I felt so at home when I saw this. People were friendly too, maybe it was because we were in a very touristy area. I was even more surprised that so many people spoke English, I know very little Spanish even though I took it for ten years. That first night we just had dinner, went to the beach for about thirty minutes then went back upstairs and passed out. But already we were having an amazing time and we knew this trip was going to be just what we needed.
